How are your bikes doing on gas consumption? Real numbers please , no bloated or bragging numbers.
My local deal on a V-Strom 650 fell through so I may still be in the market for a Versys, but I wanna know about it first since it's pretty much new around here.

I ride mine pretty hard and have consistently getting 45. Keep in mind I am doing a very hard break in, like to drive fast, and only have 475 miles on it.

However on a side note it has gotten better since i bought it. The subsequent question I would also ask is fuel capacity, mileage don't mean nothing with a 3 gallon tank. :)

Mine has been getting 46 & 47 mpg. I was hoping for better, but this is probably going to be the norm...

I really think that after about 1K miles and me going a little more easy on the throttle that I can get 50 MPG.

Actually I will try this next time i fill up.

Just turned over 800 miles on mine. Around town I'm getting about 45 mpg. Last weekend I rode from Atlanta to Dahlonega and back (about 200 miles) and averaged 55 mpg.

Im well over the break in period now, and mileage is really down to how you ride the bike,,, but realistically on a long run you should get close on 200 miles per tank full. not so much around town... what I will say is if you had to pay what it costs here in the uk you would buy a bicycle,, at the moment we are paying around $10.08 per gallon...

I've been getting in the 45-50 area. On my last long ride, I was getting really close to 200 miles out of a tank on the freeway averaging around 80mph.

It's been doing great so far.

I was under the impression the Versys had a 5.0 gallon tank according to the Kawasaki website.
So at 200 miles per tank=40mpg?

The tank is a 5 gallon tank, but I assume most of us don't run the tank completely dry. I usually fill up when the low fuel indicator starts to blink. It has been about 4.1 gallons @ around 194~196 miles to fill up again, which works out to about 46~47 mpg.

After 356 miles into in the break in period, I've run a tank and a half and am getting 47.5 mpg. Mostly in town driving thus far.

Last tankful was 21K's per Litre or 60mpg (that's imperial gallon). My friend on his Versys did an "economy test" once and got 28K's per litre (almost 80mpg). I ride "normally" and don't try and save fuel, this bike is nothing short of amazing.

And I'm having FUN as well!!!!

im getting about 55, and a few more, but all we have here are freeways with a max speed of 55, together this is the perfect recipie for gas milage

I'm getting about 47-48mpg after 870 miles on the bike. But most of this is commuting in town.

As anybody tested how many miles can be done once the fuel starts flashing before you run dry?

When the indicator flashes, I try to fill up at the next station. It usually takes around 4.1 or 4.2 gallons to fill the tank. If I'm getting 46~47 mpg, & I have almost a full gallon in the tank when the indicator flashes, I would guess 45 miles give or take a few. Sound like good guessing?? :thumb::D

Almost all of my mileage is on some sort of highway or open road, with only a little stop-and-go in light traffic. Riding solo, I'm getting just a shade over 51 mpg. Riding two-up, Denise and I are averaging just under 49 mpg.

Potential Versys owner here and MPG is an important factor to me. To reduce variables I hope to get some reports on the MPG on the super slab at around 75mph, with stock hard bags preferably. If someone does a tank or two this way let us know.

From this number I can infer other mileages.

I currently own a ZZR 1200 and put 70K on an 1100 Gpz. I am finally ready to go smaller and lighter for all sorts of reasons including MPG. Even at $4/gal, to be honest, it isn't cost so much a personal urge to be a little frugal. It's the new trend. Then too, it's possible if not probable that gas could go much higher yet or even be in shortage at some points. Or I just may get poorer, which is a new trend too. Then MPG could be a huge thing.

If that slab number is less than 45 I'll be a little disappointed. My Gpz would get 43 under those conditions with a pretty good load on for touring/camping. The ZZR is a pig. Sure it's insanely fast but that's only useable about .00000023% of the time.

This is hard to believe but I checked my mileage during break-in; on my second tank of fuel and got 62.5. I now have 1300 miles and in the process of checking again, I don't think this tank will be anywhere close. I will post if over 50 but I ride her pretty hard. I have also noticed that with the ethanol added to the fuel that my Goldwing has dropped 2 miles per gallon.

Adding Givi bags did not affect my mileage. Mixed riding the V gets between 47 - 50 mpg. The only time I baby her is when following the wifes Vulcan.

The bike has 3500+ miles on her.

With 870 miles on my Versys the first three tanks were: 48.8, 45 (town traffic), and 54.2. Will have to fill up again this week see what I get. :)

Well I checked my mileage for the 2nd time all around town, back roads and pushing her pretty hard and I got 52 MPG. The first tank was 62.5 and it was during break-in so I was taking it pretty easy. Looks like 62.5 is certainly a record. I am certain the fuel mileage has dropped at least 2 MPG due to the Ethanol added.

49 mpg on 6th tank. 200+ miles of coast range mountains, averaging around 60mph.

I just rolled over on 1000 miles. The last two tanks I checked and got 53 mpg and 54.5 mpg. I commute 30 miles to work through deer infested countryside, so I take it pretty easy in the mornings.

I've been getting better mpg than expected. 62.5 mpg on 2 tanks. 309 miles on my last tank riding at 7500-9000ft in elevation 70-80mph. I'm wondering if my speedo is off. anyone compared a gps to the speedo.

The speedo seems to be the same as my Wing which is around 4-5mph off at 75 mph.
