: Group Ride in North GA - Saturday, 11/8

Well since mountainrider doesn't seem inclined to quit posting all these pics of the beautiful North GA scenery, I guess I should come down from NC and take a look for myself. :)

Seriously, I will be passing through North GA on Saturday morning, 11/8 en route to Columbus to visit my mom. I have already talked to mountainrider, sharrison56 and danomar about connecting for a ride (plus a little horsetrading :thumb:).

Is there anyone else out there that wants to join in? I'd really like to take advantage of the chance to put some faces to the names here.

We don't have any hard and fast plans yet. All I know is that I will be in the area either overnight on that Friday night or early in the morning on Saturday. Mountainrider suggested meeting at T.W.O. in Suches, which seems like as good a place as any (especially since there's a decent chance I'll be camping there).

I will have to leave the group at about noon to head onto Columbus, but I'd like to get a few hours of riding in if folks don't mind meeting a little on the early side. How does 8am sound? If that's too early, someone speak up and we can adjust accordingly.

Whoops! I just realized I posted this in the wrong sub-forum. I did not realize that there is a Member Rides forum and a Group Rides forum.

Mods, please move the thread if possible.

If you are riding back through on Sunday and would like to meet up or if anyone is riding in the GA., East TN., or N.C. area gine me a shout. I ride about every Sunday if possible. Or on Wed. About every time I go over Cherahola or deals gap area I see another V but always going in the opposite direction. Would like to meet up and ride if anyone interested.:thumb:

Alright folks, just a few days away. Definitely room for a few more riders if anyone can work it out.

I haven't heard any complaints about meeting at 8am, so we'll go with that.

8am at TWO in Suches

See you all there.

Chris

I may be able to make this.

Anyone mind if I bring some non-V riding friends?

Bring 'em on. How else are we going to convert people unless we let them see what they're missing. ;)

I'll definitely be there. Rain or shine. Current weather forecast looks like it will be sunny but a little cooler than it has been. Nothin' an extra layer of clothes won't fix though.

See you guys there. Looking very forward to seeing these awesome North GA roads that I've heard so much about.

I got some last Saturday, but haven't tried them out yet. Will definitely have them on Saturday morning. Are you going up 400 Saturday morning?

It takes about an hour from Alpharetta to TWO, so around 7am at Old Milton Parkway and 400?

If you get off at exit 10 (Old Milton Parkway) and take a right, there is a gas station (Sams Mart) about 100 yards down on the right. That would be the closest place to 400.

Sounds like a pretty good group meeting. If you can't make 8:00 at TWO, the group will be meeting at Rider's Hill at 9:00.

Thanks danomar & mountainrider.

Riders Hill is a great motorcycle dealership. A great place to meet and shop. They will meet or beat most internet prices on tires. Look forward to seeing all of you. It will be the biggest Versys meeting in north Ga.
I might not get to ride very much. My back is hurting but I will hang out as long as I can. :thumb:

More pics of the largest gathering of Versyses ever. In Georgia, at least. :)

Correct me if I am wrong, but left to right are: mudarra, (I forget, sorry!), mountainrider, Bad-Tat, danomar, sharrison56, and DragonBreath. Thanks for William for reminding me of Frog Hollow Rd. I haven't been there in a long time!

I'm the far left in the group shot.

Had a great time today! Thanks Mountainrider for a fine job leading, and showing us a few lesser known great roads.

Great pics! What a great ride. I hate I had to bail a bit early, but I enjoyed the time I had with you guys. I can say for sure that the North GA roads live up to what I had heard about them. So many good roads.

Thanks for leading us William. Leading a big group of riders is a thankless PITA, but we certainly appreciate it. I hope I can get over and ride with you guys again sometime soon.

Ride safe everyone. :thumb:

I did not decide to go to TWO until about 7:30 p.m. on Friday. So I loaded up on Friday night and left Nashville (actually 30 mi west of) at 5:10 a.m. Saturday morning. I arrived at TWO around 11:00 a.m. After setting up my tent, I stuck around until about 12:30 p.m. but no other Versys was found. Actually, I was the only one camping on Saturday. I really had some great riding weather and as usual the roads were great.

Thanks (really) for getting me in the mood to ride down to North Georgia.

The Versys got a very disappointing 44 mpg on the interstate but did very well once on the back roads (about 54 mpg). For me this bike is not a good long distance tourer, but is extremely capable (and fun) on the twisties. It’s still hard to get used to keeping the RPMs up where they need to be to have the power to pass or to pull out of the curves.

Going home it was cooling down fast so I rode around 78 – 80 mph. Although sensitive to wind gusts, the bike was actually very smooth at these speeds. I put almost 700 miles ont the trip and really enjoyed every mile.

Chris and I meet at TWO around 8am Sat. morning. He spent the night there and we hooked up and went to Riders Hill. Sorry we missed you. We might need to have a cell phone list next time. :D
