I've noticed on my bike that I must be keeping my feet in close to the heel guards and plastic cosmetic pieces. The silver paint is wearing through and the metal heel guards are getting discolored. Does anyone have a suggestion for a material to cover and protect these areas? Maybe a carbon fiber looking plastic that I can cut to size and stick on?

there was someone who made that is on the forum but doesn't do that any more but he posted the template for it some where on here i believe but it could also be on the uk forum just do a search on heel protector ...............had a quick look and it's on the uk forum good luck

Is Line-X the same stuff used in truck bed liners? I've heard about do-it-yourself spray on bedliners. Is that what you're refering to here?

Is Line-X the preferred brand or is it a catch all term like Xerox or Kleenex?

Thanks for this info. My parts are doing the same thing and I've considered the stick on protectors, but I would prefer to paint the whole thing if that will do the trick.

I made some with the carbon fiber look film the edges rolled and I took them off, but then just threw them on and didnt take alot of time on them . Ill try again when I get time I might try a heat gone on it this time to get the edges to bend over. You can find the carbon film on ebay cheap. I did come up with one for a key protector seemed to work OK.

Some cool stickers would cover that right up.

I saw some rubber used for Jeeps that is stick on that might work, too. But, I'm afraid the edges might roll. If I could have it cast in metal - that would be a good solution.

Actually LineX and Rhino liner are available in colors, If you prefered a cleaner look you could go to Kragen or your local discount auto parts store and purchase paint protector for about 15$ which is a clear polycarbonate material that is adhesive on one side. When it is applied warm and let sit for 24 hours is bonds very well and is extremely durable.

I got one of those light bulb moments today and figured - just take the paint off in the affected area and see what it looks like. It's probably not everyone's taste but it works for me. Just took some elbow grease, some fine wet/dry sand paper and some paste wax. I taped off the area, then sanded the remaining paint off and finished with a wax and buff. Came out nice and shiny.
