This is from a company that makes fairings. He make's a fairing for the KLR that has Hella Lights and a adjustable windshield. So I got in touch with him about a adjustable fairing for the Versys. This Is in the design stage.

I like it - what's it like to ride with it?

(Nice sticker on the side, too.)

The main thing I like about it. You can leave the thumb bolts slightly loose and slide it up or down going down the road to get that fine tuned adjustment. Come off the interstate on a hot day and you have the option of pushing it all the way down to get some air.

I'll buy it! Let me know when it's available.

Not bad! What I'm wanting is a clear screen that (looking from the front) follows the headlight shroud shape down to the side tank farings and the flairs out and back, almost right above where Golf's KLE sticker is. The givi up top is fine. The V is pretty leggy and tall from the front and a screen that shapes down and out would lower the look of the front end and eliminate the gut/chest blast that now comes right under the bars.

clear as mud, i know.

Sorry but i think that is very ugly - from the front it looks like a Samurai helmet. I am hoping for this solution (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0168zh-yWXM) to become Versys flavoured.....

Unique concept. How is the wind blast with that screen? also, Are the hand guards effective in keeping your hands warm in cold weather?

Coming in mid-November is my MadStad Adjustable Windshield Mount for the Versys. This is the same concept, actually the same patented brackets as have been used on the V-Strom for over 2 years. (see photo). I finally made the time to adapt them to the Versys.

The system bolts in place of the stock brackets. The adjustable brackets slide up and down 2.5" for height, and back and forth 25 degrees of tilt. They are bare stainless steel in the photo but the production version will be satin black to blend in with the dashboard. The adapter plate is aluminum to keep the weight down.

Although the system in this thread is creative, it does not allow tilt which makes all the difference in the world. My brackets also give a full view downward in front of the bike, which this system does not.

Check out my video of how the MadStad system works on the V-Strom (www.madstad.com) or Google "MadStad" or search any of the V-Strom or adventure rider forums. There are hundreds of posting, and there is nothing else like the MadStad brackets. They are truly and fully adjustable and they work, period.

Hurrah for MadStad - me want. Shame it doesn't look like Speedy's GPS mount will fit though :( But I would (sadly) sacrifice that for a good windshield mount.

How much??

Is that the finish that will be available. Would be great if it was powder coated black. Is that a option?

Sorry golfmuch I was Duhing myself for not noticing - not you. I do stuff like that all the time - stating the bloody obvious.

Agreed about losing the Zumo/GPS option.

No offense taken. I love the looks of that Zumo over the dash but it makes for reach.

That is indeed bad-ass and hope to see that for V as well.

I'm basically inept at adding anything to my bike. I simply want to know if these brackets will attach to the stock brackets without any modifications. Also will any windshield then attach to your brackets.

If it's easy to install you are a savior.

The MadStad adjustable brackets bolt down in place of the stock windshield brackets. A 4mm Allen wrench is used to remove all the screws from both side body panels which then pop off, then an 8mm socket or open-end wrench removes the four bolts holding down the stock brackets. The MadStad system gets bolted on using the same four bolts, the replace the side panels and you are done, 10 minutes tops.

My MadStad brackets will accept any windshield made for the Versys as well as any windshield made for the Suzuki V-Strom. The V-Strom mounting holes are spaced wider which gives better support for wider windshields and there are many nice windshield options for the Strom. I don't think Kawasaki expected Versys riders to want "touring" windshields but it is after all an adventure touring bike. You would be able to switch back and forth between V-Strom and Versys shields easily without disassembling the bike every time.

One of our test riders found that the 16" wide shield we gave him pushed the air out past his mirrors and they no longer vibrated and blurred at highway speed, which is a nice bonus! We will have that shield available as an option in 2-3 weeks when the brackets are ready.

Well done. I like the ideal of being able to put the vstrom shields on. They have many options. And I do consider my bike a Lightweight tourer.

That looks awesome! MadStad. Would deffinately be interested in this option too, but, how can we get around the price inflation at the Border?? Have taken a kickin' with everything ordered from the States so far. Don't mind paying for quality and it deffinately looks like it has that! What about Canadian distributors for your products? Do you have anybody up here?
