Much excitement, we are set for a +/- 800km ride this coming weekend.
About 10 of us are going to be doing the run as shown below in the attached screenie. Ranging from superbikes all the way through to a cruiser, we will cover the range.
400km to Ladysmith on the Saturday, and then roughly about the same distance back.
Will update on this thread again with trip report when we get back.

will do for sure. Depending on how often we stop I should be able to cover some great areas. From the hustle and bustle of suburbia through to the flat, dry and desolate Karoo area (has a beauty of it's own). I know at least three of the guys going along are trigger happy as well, so I'm hoping we get loads of awesome pics. :D
why is it only Wednesday today :dgi:, was hoping when I woke up this morning it was Saturday already so we can roll :p

ok ok, more profuse apologizing. Work and home been over the top hectic this last two weeks and still continuing. But luckily not for everyone, buddy edited down the video footage of our trip and posted clips on the tube.
I haven't even watched them yet, just got the links in a mail, so I don't know what he put in, but it should give you a good idea of the trip. I'll check frmo home tonight hopefully.

Excellent pictures looks like a blast-where the roads closed-no one else around!!
Good to see you ride on the 'correct' side of the road-well most of the time anyway.

What a blast! Two questions: 1)How come the sky isn't gray and cloudy. 2)You guys are all on the wrong side of the road!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like South Africa is on my todo list.
Thanks for the video and the tunes.

Eh he he, well first off, I believe you guys are the ones riding on the wrong side of the road ;)
And as far as the gray and cloudy goes, all that "should" be behind us now, summer is supposed to be in full swing already with crisp blue skies and not a cloud in sight and everyone wishing they had swimming pools or portable aircon. But winter just doesn't want to let go, been a bit iffy the last couple of weeks, 2 days sunshine, 3 days rain, repeat.
And the quiet roads, he he, no we were just quite a bit out of civilization by then. Out in the middle of nowhere and enjoying every minute of it  , the towns we hit were places that doesn't really have anything to offer, so people don't flock to them, which means we had open roads most of the time.
Managed to watch the vids from home quick last night, in the first vid you'll notice Charl slowed down the video to show hard break marks... well that was where a guy in a pickup decided to make a u-turn on the pass, right in front of two of our guys. Luckily Willem on the Fireblade was in front, his experience is what kept him alive and out of hospital there.
Also a pity that the guys didn't start taking footage earlier, all that footage is in-land already on the quieter roads. There is some epic views on the first part of our run on a pass that runs along the coast.
Ronnie's Sex Shop (at the end of the last video) used to be just a pub in the middle of nowhere with not a lot of visitors, but since Ronnie changed the name of the pub it has actually become world renowned. Funny, simple name change and all of a sudden there is always people there. ...and no, it's still just a pub in the middle of nowhere :p
As far as biking SA goes, for sure, there is miles and miles and miles of open road and mountain passes to hit once you leave the cities behind. I would recommend summertime though, winter is simply miserable, specially down here in Cape Town. Strong wind, rain, more wind, lots more rain.... and then some more rain and wind in case you haven't had enough.:D
Still didn't get around to photos though. Taking the V out over lunch to go fetch the DVD from our trip, pics should all be on there.
great day to all,
Bob
