WOW!!! I was at the inaugural 500 GP at Laguna Seca in 1988, the inaugural MotoGP there in 2005, and the first Indy MotoGP in 2008. I'll be making motel reservations as soon as a tentative date is announced.

I'm definitely going (or trying to go) there for the first F1 race in 2012. Should be awesome. I'm hoping they open it up to sports cars as well. I would love to drive that track.

Went to my first MotoGP last year at Indy. Wife and I had a blast. That track and all it's history was an awesome experience. We have only missed the first Barber AMA race in Birmingham Alabama but have been to the next 7. That is one beautiful track. Now to have a major track with a major race less than 200 miles from me will be AWESOME!

Has anyone seen a map with the exact location of the new track yet? I have seen references to it being close to downtown and close to the airport, but 'close' is a relative term. I have checked their website and found nothing there.

Hope it doesn't end up like F1 before.

Hopefully this one will turn out better, since it's purpose built. But who knows ... The state is, unfortunately, giving them money. I like F1, but using government money is the fast path to boondoggle. I'm hoping this is an exception.
