Two different bikes....one electric , one gas.

Wow. That's pretty interesting. I don't like the whine from the electric motor, I think I'd get tired of that. But terrific performance. I wonder how much braking the rider is doing going into corners, i.e. is there regenerative braking from the electric motor?

Electric Bikes are a nice theory.
Hey, aren't electric bikes powered by coal, nuclear and natural gas generators? People tend to forget that electricity also creates pollution.

The big issue is convenience. I can fill up my V and ride 225 miles on a single tank, refill it in 5 minutes or less and ride another 225 miles.

The Chevy Volt only goes 40 miles on a single charge. I drive farther than that to work each day.

The Chevy volt does have a gas engine that will extend the range another 375 miles, so you would get about: EPA estimated 93 MPGe (electric); 35 city, 40 hwy MPG (gas). Actual range varies with conditions. However I don't think there is enough space on a motorcycle for that type of set up, maybe someday. You wouldn't get any pollution if the electricity is coming strictly from wind or solar farms, however that usually isn't the case.

Ah yes, but they can also be powered by Solar and Wind. Even when powered by the dirtiest of power sources there are less emissions per mile than the gas powered engine.

But who cares, this is about a bike that is FAST!!! I find it hilarious that folks that are big into climate change denial bash any new technology that reduces energy use, even when that technology out performs the older higher energy use technology. Who cares if the new technology saves the environment, its better AND cheaper to operate, tell my why thats a bad thing?

Riding a fast electric motorcycle is in my bucket list.
Only hope there will some nice ones on the road someday before I kick the bucket.....:D

240hp - What's not to like??? Now if they would just build it on a Versys frame for the same V price they would really have something....

dont electric motors have like an endless supply or torque?

and also, you can cut your charge time in half if you set up a 240 volt charging station at home and at work.

Friend of mine built an electric cruiser bike as his senior project in college. Never worked the kinks out of it, he just sold it and moved on to the next project. I am intrigued by them, as I only have a 6 mile round trip to work, and even the area we are looking to move to would only be about 30 miles round trip. Would need to keep the V for trips though.
