well, three days ago i tipped my bike over, in the drivway, and i wasnt even sitting on it. (idiot) i ended up scratching and craking to right side plastic fairings. So what sould i do? luckly i took 3 years of autobody school during my highschool years, so i called my teacher up and sure enough, "Bring it in!" . Today i got all the pieces fixed, and all the gray plastic will be black with Dupont Chromaone with a small amount of flatener added. I had to match a formula for the red because kawasaki does not have an actual paint code for the bike! (wich i have if for some reason anyone needs the color). I should have known i cant just go in there and paint red. Like what happend to my camaro, wich ended up covered in plames and stripes. My old teacher busts out the airbrush, and i started painting flames and what not. So the entire bike will hopefully be on fire by tomorrow evening, I will try and get pics up this weekend if anyone is interested

Flames on a V! Hot! I was tossing around the idea of silver tribal flames for my candy blue V but didn't have the guts to try it. But I'm not gonna drop my bike just for an excuse. You must post finished pics!

I can't wait to see. I have also been tossing arround the tribal idea. Then it would match my Cannondale.

Today i finished the front fender, and started around the headlight, i plan on going down the fairings and back to the front of the seat, and then just a few little guys on those side pieces, then i was contemplating throwing some orange pearl in some colorblender ( a pre-clearcoat) and running over the whole bike to make it sort of candy. who knows. I spent all morning practicing so it seems it would be an act of god to shoot clear tomorrow so this may be a monday thing, hold tight guys!

I don't normally like the flame look on a bike. Unless it's done really well it can come out pretty cheesy. With that said, yours is really, really well done. I like it a lot. It looks very natural instead of the cliche cartoonish type flames that are often done.

No offense to anyone with the other kind of flames, of course. Just not my cup of tea.

Wow. That paint looks amazing.  You're a true artist - ever think of doing that for others' bikes?

"anybody got any ideas on what could be done on the ermax undertail kit from frog? or the raidiator cowls?....or do you thing any thing else would be overboard...."

With your obviously great eye for paint and color, I don't think you need any one else's advice. :D

Looks very cool! BTW, how do you like the 2Bros pipe? sound good? Any power gains? Just trying for some feedback as I can't decide which pipe to get. Also, I wouldn't go too overboard with the mods. A tidy tail with maybe some clear lenses from a ZX10 would be a nice touch, and possibly putting the flames on the mirrors. Also, a mirrored front windshield from a tint shop would look aces. Your bike looks BADASS and anything too much more than that could make it look too much like a trailer queen. These are just ideas I have floating around in my brain for my bike, but yours already looks nearly perfect.

Cool! If you don't mind me asking, I'd like some price examples. Like if I shipped you the "tins" what would it be to have them painted; solid; two-tone; all-out like yours? Thanks

if you have good prices and parts of the profit are going to a worthy cause, I'll be glad to spread the word too. My Magna riding friends would prolly have an interest!

If you go to the Twisted Throttle 2008 catalog, page 125, the red Versys, you will see what I did to mine. The original black made the lower engine area look weak in comparison to the rest of the bike. A can of Rust-Oleum grey primer and another of Rust-Oleum Metallic brilliant metal finish and now I think its much improved. The color is very close match to the rest of the frame and trim of the ones imported to the USA. Cheap and fast change for such a large improvement in appearance.

I really like wha you did with the flames ..very retro but modern in that they are more realistic flames.. I would have loved to see those on a black bike ( as thats what I ride)

No such page...
I have both the spring and the fall catalogs (DL'd them from their site) and neither has more than 85 pages.
Would love to the see how your bike looks. :thumb:

Nevermind...

The way Adobe numbers the pages and the numbers ON the pages (harder to see) are different. I found the pic.

Nice job!
I wonder how that would look with the silver frame and plastics... hmmmm...

Glad you were able to find the picture. I lived in Clark County on S.E. 195th Ave from '91 to '97 and left after 50,000 people moved in on top of me and we were made part of the city. It was great while it lasted. Angus
