: HEPCO and BECKER Crash Bars are in the US

Just thought I would mention that Eurotechsports just recieved a shipment of 25 sets of Hepco Becker crash bars . They sent the largest part of them to A Moto Stuff and are drop shipping bars that were ordered through Happy Trails .
Mine are enroute to the house via UPS as I type . If you want a set of these bars , you better move fast . To my understanding , the last shipment the US got went within a week . I have been waiting for mine for 5 weeks now , but they will be here Thursday . Yipper DEE !!!!!!!!!!!!

I would assume you will see your very soon in the event you had them on order for some time as Dragonbreath and myself have . Dragonbreath got a notification from Amotto , I think today .

A Moto confirmed my order at last week of Aug.

Hopefully it will be shipped to me by next weekend to Hong Kong ^^

btw, Sadly... I dropped my V last week with scratches on right cowling and radiator cover, bent brake levers, broken footrest, scratches on passenger footrest... ouch!

luckily, didn't drop myself and get myself hurt... this experience (1st drop ever over 20000km / 3bikes) worth every penny. will be more careful next time.

lokto7 ,

MAN , I hate to hear you dropped her . That alway ssucks . I did not realize that you are in Hong Kong . That's a little far from North Carolina USA or I would just swing by and ride a bit . LOL
Are you an American in Hong Kong ? If I may ask . You need to post some photos of you and your V in Hong Kong . We all love photos like that .
Also , it looks to me like you could get stuff easier than ordering from the US only have it shipped from Germany to here , then Hong Kong . Ouch , that must be some seriously painful shipping costs .

FYI, as PO-SLOKE mentioned, I got a tracking number from amotostuff.com today. That's the good news. The bad news is that it's going to take seven (7) !$#@*^% days for the shipment to get to me. I suspected it would because the last order that I got from them went from Nevada to California and then started it's journey east to NC. I don't pretend to understand the logic that UPS applied to that, but I guess there's a hub that it's got to go through. I'm about as impatient as they come, though, so waiting a whole week while my bars plod their way across the country is going to be tortuous.

I'm a native Hongkong-nese (lack of nationalism =.=). Shame that I dun update my Versys gallery often... http://chup.info/gallery2/v/d-/versys/

yep... in Hong Kong, buying parts not for Honda bikes is... not enjoyable. Not many choices... We have to rely on online shops often. Buying from Europe often incurs more expensive delivery charges as well as products.

Do not tarry . If you remotely think you want a set , I would step up to the plate and get that creidt card to smoking . They go VERY fast and the wait for more is insane .

quantique318 ,

Yep , those look good for sure . But some of us such as myself and others , we come from an offroad background and think largely on radiator protection . That is pretty much what we are after and the fact that a simple highway peg can be mounted as an option . Also , the bar setup is a great place for running lights .
I like your setup though . But not for my intended useage .

Ah yes then it is true that my coverage is a little
light ..... What tyre is mounted? For the road I have mounted Pilot Power 2CT from Michelin is very well to hold the road in the rain and wear is very low. Very disappointed with the Dunlop wear it very quickly.

sorry for my English

If you hold off on the purchase of your H&B bars, you might save a bit of cash.

The GBP to US$ has dropped about 12-14% in last 4 weeks from US$2.00 to 1 GBP to todays US$1.75 to 1 GBP.

Having said that, I have the H&B bars and they saved my bike from many hundereds of US$'s when I dropped it back in May, so waiting could be a false economy!!

I am still running the stock Dunlop and have about 2400 miles on them . Believe it or not , they show almost no wear at all . BUT ......... I am a very mid rider . Easy on the throttle and not terribly hard cornering at all .
Although the Dunlops seem to be really sticky on the road . A good thing for me too !

By the way , fear not for your english , it is far better than my , " whetever " language would be your native language . LOL

I see the instructions are in German only. Has that caused any problems, or is it pretty straight how to install them? Thanks.

LOKTO7 ,

Eurotechsports , which is the importer for the Hepco Becker bars , tells me the bars now come with instruction ins English . Now .... considering the fact that my bars are not here yet , that it to be seen . I shall let you know ...............

Then again , I have been told by several guys who got the bars with German instructions , that the install was so obvious and easy the even in English would have slowed down the installation . LOL . But hey , some aren't as mechanically inlcined as others . Therefore , I am hoping for a set of English instructions to come with MY bars . LOL .

which part are you guys ordering off the website.

Price: $182.64
Quantity in Basket: none?

Note that bars are black, not silver as shown on their website.

http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii30/Macvalk/IMG_2067.jpg

Installation is easy, do one side at a time, otherwise engine might fall on the floor!

Get all three nuts and bolts in place on one side, before tightening up. The rear bolt is a bit wimpy, or was when I got mine nearly a year ago, so don't over torque it.

i am going to wait to the off season to order and install this. i dont have to much riding time left before the snow falls :(

The install is simple but I thought they were a pain in the ass. Once the HB bars are on you cannot access the rearset mounting bolts or the rear brake master cylinder bolts without removing the bars.

They are definitely sturdy units tho!

Please don't make the mistake I made with the Hepco bars. I ordered them and they never arrived after over a week. I called and they said they are back ordered and yet they never told me at first. So after waiting for at least 5 weeks I get them, but from a person on my block who they were delivered to by mistake.

None of this has anything to do about my mistake, but I want people to feel sorry for me. LOL.

So, the next morning I lay out my tools to put on the bars and I'm looking forward to it. I opened the box the evening before and looked at them, but...when I looked at them that morning, I saw that they sent me two left bars. Needless to say, I was ANGRY!!

So be warned if it happens to you. Don't get happy or lay out your tools until you see the correct parts are there.

Man , I gotta say ........ THAT SUCKS Bro . Sorry it went that way for you . If I were you , I would be on the phone first thing and make sure they still have some so they could get you squared away quickly . It would DOUBLE SUCK if you had to wait for another shipment from Germany .

PO-SLOKE

Oh man . You guys should just ship each other a bar . But I would be sure you solidly agree on which bar . One of the bars has all the parts taped to it . That's the one I would agree on and the opposite of it . LOL

Actually , it would be quite difficult to ship each other the wrong bar . LOL

Man , sorry you guys are dealing with that !!!!

Ya... we probably got each other's bars! I don't want to say where I got them from yet... see how the follow up goes.

I've already contacted them, and asked that they express the correct bars to me.

While I like the idea of a little rad protection it sure seems to me that a tip over to the left would crack the engine cover long before it would damage the radiator and these do not seem to provide the protection from that. Am I wrong? Right now I am looking at the SWMOTECH crash bars because they cover the engine case covers. Thoughts?

Are you sure, maybe I am just mistaken? :)

Okay, here are the embarrassing details. ;) Interstate 80 rest stop parking lot in October, 4PM, dark, heavy rain, 20+ mph wind, temps in the 40s, no car in the lot, and I needed to pee badly. I rode in, pull into a slot, did a semi U with the bike facing out. Put my foot down and WHAMM! My vision went from horizontal to vertical. Whatdaf...! The front tire and my left foot were on wet leaves, and the rear tire was on the center grease spot! So no one saw this. :o Adrenaline helped me lift the bike up and almost dumped it over to the right side. I was so pissed that I couldn't see out of the helmet: it was totally fogged up with me swearing. Of course, I still had to go, badly. I went, calmed down a bit and actually thought that it was funny afterwards.

The rattle can black was applied when I arrived home. The HB bars look good again, from 20 feet back. :thumb:

Red could answer your question, but I'll put in my 2 cents since I have the PCIII.

Reading thru many forums about the PCIII, the vast majority of people get less mpg. Factories keep the motors lean for better mpg and EPA ratings. The PC wants to feed your engine what it thinks it needs. Your throttle will be "smoother".

Some bikes are pretty good as is and I'd say the V is that way. The PC will give you a whole lot more options though for changes made to your bike regarding fine tuning to them, or even a stock bike could have it tuned to your liking rather than not having those options.

For example, my bike was programed to run leaner at cruising speeds, but when the RPM goes above 6500, it puts in more gas for quickness when kicked.

Just go to PCIII website and read about them.

amoto acknowledged an order today, no out of stock notice, and the buy page listed 3 in stock I think, reduce that by one....I am not trying to sell these but thats what the page said.....will let you know how they fit :P

Update, although the site said three in stock the order status now says backorder WTF. If they were out I would not have ordered. Thumbs down amoto.

Response I got stated that the current stock status is minus three (-3). Maybe I saw a dash three as a separater in front of the three...4 to six weeks on back order at the moment. booooooo
