PO-SLOKE 09-02-2008, 01:54 PM !!!!!! DATE SET FOR OCTOBER 11th 2008 !!!!!!
TIME ........... High Noon
PLACE.......... WHEELS THROUGH TIME Motorcycle Museum , Maggie Valley , NC
OK Guys . The Winston Salem and surrounding area guys are making us look really slack . They organized a ride for this coming weekend . Although it is awesome they have one planned , but we on this side of Asheville are pretty much cut off by the BRP closures unless we want to slab it all the way around to hook up and then all the way around to get back home --------------
SSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOO . I am propsoing that we get a Versys ride somewhat in the works for this end of the world . I was sort of poking around trying to see who lives where in the WNC/E.TENN/N.GA area and try to figure out a spot we could all hook up and ride a bit .
My proposal is something like Maggie Valley ,NC area . I have a multi-fold reason for thinking Maggie . It is a really good area to ride in all directions out of an into Maggie , it isn't so close to any one person that they should feel like they will have to host , and what I felt to be the biggest good reason is this .
Wheels Through Time , www.wheelsthroughtime.com is a motorcycle museum in Maggie Valley . If you have not heard of it and or ever been there , it seems like it would be a good meet and great spot . The museum is closing in NC forever at the end of November . There is a long yet sad reason why , but regardless of the situation , if we don't see it now , we will likely have to ride to Arizona , if and when it opens there .
It has some very good motorcycle history and well worth the 12 bux to see it . I would really like to see a meet and greet happen here . I am pretty much open for dates but I am thinking the second Saturday in October and or the 3rd one for a rain date .
Lets hear it guys , can we do this ? Chime in freely . By the way , folks from anywhere are surely welcome to come . Hec , ride a pogo stick . Let's just show the museum owner that some of us really do care and appreciate his efforts here .

JERRYES 09-02-2008, 07:27 PM Count me in. Live in sweetwater TN. and can meet any North Georgia people in Tellico Plains and go over cherahola. Or am open to meet other places. And take other routes. Wednesdays or Sundays are good for me. Can do any day If have enough notice. I do the circle down ballplay road or 360 to tellico and up cherahola and down 143 to DealsGap and up the dragon about everyother week. Any one interested let me know.
PO-SLOKE 09-02-2008, 07:33 PM Jerreys ,

PO-SLOKE 09-03-2008, 01:59 PM OK Gang ,
I called and spoke with Dale ( the owner of WHEELS THROUGH TIME ) about our date of Oct 11th to insure we would not be colliding with some form of big event .
Dale says to express his gratitude for our intended support and for me to keep in touch with him on the situation . Dale says as things progress , and as he has time , he will notify his public relations department to allert them of our arrival . Said if it gets big , they may well be able to make some noise about us coming .
Early stages of this meet and greet I know , but I also have a call in to Kawasaki's regional rep and maybe we can get those guys involved in a full blown " V " day at WTT . I am hoping we can get Kawasaki to bring in some new 09's and some other stuff .
All I can say at this time as far as promises go , I will be there . In hopes of getting us a good showing for this exciting new machine we all call the " V " and support a really great guy like Dale in his last moments in NC .
Ideas , concepts and other pertinent info would be appreciated .
Isn't there someone on this Forum that is a Kawasaki rep/spokesperson as well ?
mudarra 09-03-2008, 02:21 PM What's in the area as far as lodging goes?
PO-SLOKE 09-03-2008, 02:49 PM Tons of lodging . Everything from cabins to campgrounds to hotels . Only a short drive away is the Cherokee Reservation Casino Hotel as well . I will pull some stuff and post it up .

PO-SLOKE 09-05-2008, 09:11 PM Just bumping this back up in hopes of drawing more interest from some other riders .

Ride safe guys...post pics and ride reports! :)
PO-SLOKE 09-24-2008, 10:16 PM OK Gang , I want to bump this one up again and see where we are with it . I am really wanting to get over to Wheels Through Time one more time before it is gone forever . OCT. 11th ( weather permitting ) seems good with me .
let's chime in for who is in and who is out . Also , I posted Oct. 11th on the forum calendar so keep and eye on it . I figure we can just all use WTT for a metting spot around lunch time then figure out rides from there . Whattya thunkin' ?
Hactracker ,
I ran across 1upyorn , ( I think you know who I am talking about ) on ADV rider , he says his GF's brother is getting married that weekend but he and some buds of his are talking about the 9th . Thought I would pass that on to you if you didn't know . Hec , I might ride up that date as well . LOL
I need to meet some V riders . But as usual , I like to fair warn other riders , they call me PO-SLOKE for a reason . I get there , just not fast like allot of folks . So tell the waitress , unsweet tea , cheese burger all the way with fries and ranch . LOL

tsunamichop007 09-24-2008, 11:47 PM I've been wanting to see that museum, i'll be in vegas till the 16th of oct. i could go after that....maybe next time...you guys enjoy
PO-SLOKE 09-25-2008, 07:27 PM Doesn't look like we have many takers on this one . But I still hope to go Oct. 11th . I might try to get some Ds'ers to meet over there as well .
john westcott 09-25-2008, 07:37 PM I am still looking at that ride my self, wait and see weather and all.
sharrison56 09-25-2008, 08:22 PM I should be able to make it on the 11th.
JERRYES 10-07-2008, 07:57 PM Just wanting to know if it is still a go for the 11th? I am still trying to get it together at this point. Time off is not the problem. The problem is the small nail that is stuck in my rear wheel. Will try Wed. to see if the dealer has the tires I am looking for. And if I can get them on by Sat.. If not I have the choice to ride on it like it is or plug it and ride on it that way. I find the nail while I was in Cherokee NC. on Sun. and had to ride all the way home on it like it was. Just wanted to know if it is still a go. Weather permitting. Also I will call tomorrow and find out if there is a group leaving from this area to go up there the same day. Just read in the local bike mag that there is supposed to be some riders going out of maryville TN. to the museum that day.
PO-SLOKE 10-07-2008, 08:06 PM JERRYES ,
Glad you bumped this back up . I was meaning to this eve but got busy until I heard the email notificaton .
I am planning on being at the Wheels Through Time Museum at high noon . I am hoping others that said they were in will be there . I figure we can all figure out if we are hungry enough to go eat first then hit the museum or tour the museum then go eat . I figure the latter will work best for folks .
Lots of good eats in the area . One of my favs is Legends Sports Grill . My plan is to leave Sapphire , head up 215 to BRP all the way to hwy 19 then down to Maggie Valley . Unless of course it is really chilly . Going South on the Parkway to Maggie takes you up to the highest point on the BRP ... BBRRRRRRRR when it is cool out .
I am hoping more will chim in here . Sharronison56 says they are in as well . Let's get a roll call going on now .
It looks like the weather is in our favor as well . Yee Haw !!!!!!!!!!!

sharrison56 10-10-2008, 10:18 AM Is this still on? I am planning to be there if you guys are.
Bad-Tat 10-10-2008, 07:12 PM I might make it tomorrow. Depends on if a very cute blonde wants to go for a Harley ride on Sat or Sun.
sharrison56 10-10-2008, 08:02 PM I am planning to leave Roswell at about 8:30
danomar 10-11-2008, 01:11 PM Oops. I completely forgot about this. Sorry.
Bad-Tat 10-11-2008, 07:07 PM Well there were two red V's up there today!! '56 and I made it but didn't find any others! Beautiful day!!
sharrison56 10-12-2008, 01:40 PM It was a bit chilly going over the mountains, but we had a nice lunch and checked out the museum. There were several hundred bikes there at anytime during the day.
Afterwards I headed done to Easley, SC to visit my parents. That gave me the chance to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway. What a great road. Nice smooth surface. It was cold at times, but great riding. Luckily most of the caged leaf watchers were parked at the overlooks. I only had to do a mountainrider a couple of times. I have attached a few pictures.
Great day!!!
