What do you mean by spring? The going to the Sun road opened the last week of June this oops last year IIRC.

Check with Siyeh. I think he resides at Glacier most of the summer! : )

I think I 'd rather do like Gary and "head south till the road ends", or at least till I got to some warm temps!

If I may

I went on a trip in YNP 10 years ago, early may
Very very nice place, beautifull nature and all BUT
Some of the park roads (almost half) were still close due to avalanche and snow (I would evaluate that the north eastern part were the one that were close, but this could be wrong)
We also enjoyed the Grand Teton Nat Park south of YS and a diner to remember in Jackson Hole (wapiti steak ... unbelivably good and tender)

Kept that in mind

My two cents

True the riding is better in the heart of Summer yet, we are planning on doing some good fly fishing during the adventure and the fishing is far better in the early spring. Were going to try to get the best of both worlds: riding and fishing. I have some friends who live in west yellowstone and Jackson that do fishing guides and have a great places to go. There is some beautiful back country off roads nice dirt trails up by seeley lake in Montana on the way to National Glacier. Good Luck to the V riders may your New Year be adverterous and exciting! End of June is early spring?

Have a safe and wonderful trip! Been to both (Yellowstone & Glacier) and they are spectacular. Glacier may still be closed in late June though, you may consider going mid-spring, you know, July 15th or so. ;)

Summer does not start until Jun 22.

Same here in CO. Spring is the snowiest season. When everybody is seeing the dafodils bloom we can be buried under snow. Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park does not open until Memorial day but only weather permitting.

Looking at a route from Dallas to YS, looks like a ton of fun. We're trying to decide where to go when it gets warmer here. :)

Actually it starts on the 21st. LINK (http://www.almanac.com/content/first-day-seasons)

But as he later posted he is planning on early spring. I was just trying to point out the higher elevations may still have snow.

There is a lot to see. I went last summer from Seattle, Yellowstone, Glacier and Grand Tetons. 8 Days wasn't enough! Beautiful though.

I may be interested in going. Is this going to be a camping trip?

The trip is possibly going to be a combination of both. We are planning on staying in some motel/hotels and one of the nights we are staying at a friends house up in west yellowstone. There might be a couple of nights in tents. Depending on how many people are going and the lagistics of the route and weather conditions. I'm hoping by the last week of June or the first week of July the weather conditions are a comadating.

I am a big Dallas fan, it would be nice to have some Texans come on the trip. You will see some beautiful Gods Country.

The War Department is not found of first week of July. Departure clearance for 24 June - July 2 granted.
