Nice looking bike, but the back wheel looks a bit small in size. Released here at RM 118k (USD 35+).
At that price might consider the GS R1200.

An ugly elephant bike, bad copy of the R1200GS, the performance is the worst of all on-off bikes >1000cc, and costs MORE than the base version of the R1200GS
Saw allready some in Greek roads, it is a bike only for high way cruising, TOO heavy and big

No thanks

I got to see and sit on one at a Yamaha Demo day in Houston this past weekend. I can confirm that the bike IN NO WAY feels heavy. I was able to sit on it, and roll it around and was very impressed. There are several dealers in TX who are selling the bike for $12,500 which is below MSRP of $13,900.

I have been reading a lot about it on advrider.com (http://www.advrider.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=5) in the Beasts subforum.

It is good enough that people are selling their 1200GS to buy the Super Tenere...

Others say it is still too big and heavy which is a liability in the dirt.
Then again, it is an asset when riding long hauls on the street as well.

I view big 1000+ cc bikes like the Super Tenere and the 1200GS as SUVs. Very big and comfy on the highway, put knobbie tires on them and they are also very capable of going off road. Not the best road bike, not the best dirt bike, but one of the best to do both in the same day.

Too big, too much money, I'd go V-strom or the 800 Bmw first if it were on my radar

I agree, the big strom would be a much better choice in terms of bang for your buck.

Interesting.... I think a few of the many reasons I/WE chose the Versys(I...again) and not a dl1000(again) or a GS or a Capanord(again) was weight, price, reliabilty and really cool mods to customize. I am on my second Versys and have dropped almost $2k on mods and I don't think I'm in over $7k. Now, I have an incredible sport, touring, adventure, commuter, squirely little carver that really is unique and interesting and a S@#T load of fun to ride. Parts and service reasonable and available. I see no advancement in this oversized and expensive 1200. Hey I'm just sayin.

Sorry, I have had a lot of coffee and was playing with the V this morning in the garage. Just want to support the good choice we all made, that's all.

I was starting to wonder if anyone besides myself shared this opinion. Eh, eye of beholder and all that. Oh, well. I certainly didn't choose the Versys for its pretty face.

Vstrom is bad too, i hate it, here in Greece they are more than scooters
All the ''city posers'' buy it to go downtown

Get the F800GS if you want a better bike for off-road

What about KTM 990 Adventure?

That is a very good bike
Prepare though for the very high seat position, even for the ''non s'' version
But you will have the best ''high cc'' off road bike that is good too for on-road use, even with the 21'' front wheel
I suggest the 990 adv users, to put the seat from the SMT990 that is much better for long travels

I was looking at the S10 on advrider the morning I went to cycletrader.com and found my Versys for cheap. Having a TDM850, I really liked the S10, but in July, it wasn't yet announced for U.S. sale.

Even if it had been available here, I don't think I could afford it. Cool bike tho.
