This summer I bought a pair of Joe Rocket mesh overpants.
After crashing, they need to be replaced. I was all set to buy the Joe Rocket Alter Egos so I could get some summer air flow, but also wind protection in the cooler times.
Then I did some thinking, and there is no way they will vent as nice as my meshes did. Should I get 2 pairs of pants, 1 mesh and 1 solid? Or the Alter Egos? The 2 pant deal would cost more, $265 vs. $170. But I think would cover more weather ranges.

Good question....depends on how much you ride and how hot and long the summer months are where you are.
Here in houston, we have long, hot and humid summers. I commute everyday to work so dedicated summer mesh pants are a must.
Soon I'll have to buy solid pants with a removable insulated liner for the fall and winter months.
Same with jacket. I have a mesh jacket for summer and will probably get a 4 season jacket for non-summer months.

You may want to check out the Olympia Air Glide Overpants. They are good summer and winter pants. They are mess pants with insulated removeable liners. Hope this helps ride safe.

Sharrison, you have the tour master transition 2 jacket? I was thinking that will be my next jacket.

Yes, I really like it. I have had it for almost 2 years and it still looks good.
Dainese makes the Drake pants. They have flaps that can be unzipped to reveal kevlar mesh patches that let in a good bit of air, or remain zipped up to be a solid overpant.

Take a look at the Cycleport airmesh pants (and jacket). And, they have liners for cold weather. With armor.
