Newbie here. I wish the Versys was out when I bought my KLR 650 last year. Absolutely love the KLR but now I ride 104 miles round trip to work and most of it is either rural state roads or highway. Because of that I'm trying to sell the KLR to purchase a V, not that the bike can't do it but I'm not as happy on it as I'd like to be.... whine, whine. :)
Thanks for having a great site to research the Versys. I'm hoping to try to work up a deal on a left over as soon.

:welcome:
Welcome to the site. I bought a Versys just 2 weeks ago and all I can say is it's a great commuter bike. I've put 628 miles on it since I bought and this was mostly commuting. I have a 120+ mi round trip every day and I love riding the V. I jsut checked my mileage last night. 58 mpg is absolutely killer compared to my truck. Good luck on your hunt for a V. They were getting scarce when I bought mine.

That's good to hear. I haven't taken one on a test ride yet but I'm really itching to take it out. I know where there are a couple of them around me and for some reason people around here are not even looking at them according to the dealers. Cruisers are big in this area, especially Harley Davidsons for some reason. To each their own and it benefits me for purchase of a V, but not for the selling of my KLR. Double edged sword....

Went for a test ride last night on a V and they were exactly as I thought they would be. After a slight beating on the sales team I closed the deal and will be picking it up Saturday. I was very pleased with the price OTD.
The salesman said that they had dubbed it a true 'nitch' bike since you had to be tall enough to ride it comfortably and really be looking for something more along a standard bike than the riding position of a sport bike. I don't quite agree but I was not arguing.
So much for no bike payments for a month.....
Thanks for the great site and I'll probably be stopping in more often now!
BTW: There is really nice used one with 220 miles on E-Bay right now. Guy who owns it seems to be pretty straight up.
Later!

You won't regret getting a V. I love mine and tomorrow I'm taking mine to work for the first time in over a week (thanks TS Fay). As for the "niche" bike and needing to be tall enough to ride it, do a search for "short" or "inseam challenged". You'll find some that "too short" for a Versys. I'm one of them and mine Versys is stock. No gel seat or lowering kit for me. Good luck Saturday:D.
