I think I have a problem. I now have 3 pairs of motorcycle pants that cover all four seasons.

I'm also thinking of getting my 4th jacket, a Kilimanjaro for colder weather riding. I REALLY love riding in October and November when it's a bit chilly but still tolerable. I even take my bike out on mild days in the middle of winter. And as thick as my leather jacket is, it seems to let in cold through the seams pretty easily.

I need to get a second pair of riding pants. Some people get 1 pair for all seasons but I don't think they work so well when you have extreme temps. I have to have my dedicated summer pants for the heat here in houston. Mesh pants with just underwear underneath.

Now I need to get some winter pants with a removable liner. And probably a winter/fall jacket too.

With textile gear I find there is no free lunch, you get what you pay for with respect to abrasion and versatility wise. Have you looked at some of the better quality 4 season gear? IE Rev'It, Olympia, FirstGear TPG line (does not include Kilmanjaro). Most better quality gear is more abrasion resistant (due to materials used like Cordura, Kevlar, etc. and more versatile with respect to hot / cold temperature range it is usable in. 1000D Cordura has the same abrasion rating as 1.3mm competition grade leather. Most more value oriented gear uses nylon or polyester which is much cheaper but also much less abrasion resistant. Sometimes manufactures will give nylon or polyester a cool name like RockTex but the gov. mandated label will still say nylon if that's what it is.

I'm pretty new to riding, but I knew I was going to be commuting an hour each way in all weathers so shelled out on a Gore-Tex shell. It was pricey, but I've been wearing it everywhere, in also sorts of rain and sun. So far, can't fault it. I went for Alpinestars Frontier Jacket and Hein Gericke Voyager pants. Both have removable thermal liners for winter. Not got into needed those yet. The jacket also has a separate Gore-Tex liner, that can be removed (washed etc.). The main advantage I've found of this system is the Gore-Tex liner zips up independent of the wind proof shell and prevents any cold air leaking in through the front zip. I know it works as I forgot to zip up the Gore-Tex one morning and realised that was why I was a bit colder than usual. The pants come with a set of braces which is much more convenient than buggering about with integrated zips.
