I am interested in buying a Versys. My only problem is that my wife will probably ride it a bunch, as well as me. I have a 05FZ1, she has a Triumph Speedmaster which she is getting rid of.

I love the Versys, but it's just plain too tall for either of us, (I could probably live with it). Leaving it stock seat height 33" is NOT an option.

Has anyone lowered their's, if so how? I have seen a rear shock mount advertised, and also saw where someone cut a coil off of the rear shock spring. The front isn't a problem, just slide the fork tubes up.

This is just speculation from the research I've done on the topic but here goes:

1. Kawasaki has a 50mm-lower gel seat as an OEM accessory... Might wanna check that out...

2. You could use the Er6n's rear shock and lower the front triple clamp to bring the bike lower.. Total height reduction in this case would be about 5-10cm

I've read that people are happy with the lower gel seat, except for the price they ask. Expensive.

At 5' 7" I wondered if I could live with the high seat too, but I found I got used to it and lowered the spring setting to the lowest.

Most the time I just put my left foot down but sometimes both as I am on the balls of my boots. Again, I don't even think of it anymore and I like sitting high to get an advantage of seeing a lot more when in traffic.

The nice thing is that the bike is so light and you're not fighting a top heavy bike.

You may find it not as bad as you thought, but if you do something, go with the lower seat, IMHO.

A while back someone had a rear shock bracket that lowered the rear, I can't find the link anymore.

Has anyone seen it?

I've bought the bracket to lower the rear 2", slid the fork tubes down in the triple trees, and ordered the 2" lower gel seat.

The Versys is a great bike, but the stock 33" seat height my wife (it's her's), or me (i'll ride it more :D) couldn't live with.

Well I just installed the rear lowering link, it lowered the seat apx. 1 1/4", perfect for me. Took the bike out of a quick test ride, it seems to be slightly less responsive in handling, however there were 30mph winds and 30 degree temperature so I couldn't give it a solid test yet. I plan on lowering the front 1/2" to even out the bike's geometry.
I'll post the results when it's done and hopefully warmer.

I lowered mine about the same in the front also, by sliding the forks through the triple trees. I had to shorten the kickstand after lowering both ends.
I have ridden it over 100 miles since lowering it, and can see no difference in the handling.
I did crank the rear spring up a little, I had it in the lowest setting to get the bike to settle some before I lowered it.

How much did the link lower your bike, and how much did you lower the front end? I too cranked up the rear shock as I also had it on it's lowest setting. Thanks for the info.

It looks like about 2", hard to tell, I had to cut 3/4" off of the kickstand.

I have lowered my bike 1 1/2" it now fits me, much more comfortable at a stop, even getting on and off I don't feel like I'm going to drop the bike. Installed the lowering link on the rear shock then cranked up the spring to setting 7 (was at 1 in attempt to lower), Then I removed all the front tupperware to access triple clamp without damaging anything else, loosened the triple clamp and lowered the front end 1". Reassembled and riding much more comfortable. Handling is the same as before adjustments. Now I need to shorten the kickstand 1" and I'm done and ready for some warm weather.

If you use a lowered seat you will find that your knee's will cramp up. but you can lower your pegs with an adaptor.
