Tach and speedo LCD not working

2012 Versys Bike came with a non working speedo. Everything lights up, neutral light works, high beam light works. Bike was in a crash so some plugs are not connected/used. LCD back lighting comes on, nothing on LCD shows up. Tachometer does not move. Bike runs fine with or without speedo connected. Any ideas where to go? I figure if the LCD doesn't work the tach should still work unless both are connected some how?

First place to start is the frame grounds for the ecu. Take everything apart and clean, use some good dielectric grease or the copper based anti seize . The connection to the display needs to come apart, take a photo. The display is driven by the ecu, good chance the display is done and or the ecu. Several test to be done following the manual. which is available on this site.

i have the manual. followed the put battery pos to pin 8, battery negarive to pin 16, then connect pin 8 and 6. LCD should show everything for 3secs, if not then its bad. But i always like to get a second opinion and my tach is not working either. how does the tach operate?
