Definitely shouldn't have to do a server refresh on every task.. can you try something else for me:

click on the start button, then copy/paste the following:
chrome --disable-extensions --disable-plugins

What that does is effectively start Chrome without anything loaded... try this site with that chrome window and let me know if it's still unreasonably slow.

This may seem like a silly question.. when's the last time you rebooted your full pc? Installed updates/ran an up-to-date anti-virus sweep, anti-malware sweep etc?

It's not really complicated: ditch that Microsoft crap, buy a Mac and load Mozilla Firefox.

What's a virus program? Is that something you see a doctor about?

I meant reboot your computer.

For anti-virus/anti-malware, it usually requires an application that you install that will go through and check to see if your computer is having a problem with those.

That being said, I did notice a really slow page refresh while posting the reply a second ago to Smiley.. in the bottom left of my window, it said "waiting for www.google.com" - does it say that for you as well?

What year is your computer? Sometimes a simple RAM upgrade will work miracles. However that involves dropping money into the thing.
You may also try deleting Chrome from your control panel programs and reinstalling a fresh and clean .exe of Chrome and see if that helps.
Just my 2 cents

Yes, in the bottom left there's all sorts of things flitting around while it's loading!!!
My laptop has very little space on it (40gb left free out of 240gb) but some sites run really slow, & l think all the bloody advertising has something to do with it because Yahoo is almost as bad as this site!!

For instance, the Miata.net forum is quick (only a few adverts) & ADVRider is lightning quick.(no adverts)

Well my 'Kool Aid' is working just fine thank you. I have had my present iMac for six years and in that time I have never had a problem with it. I have no virus software, nor do I waste hours downloading and scanning, repairing etc. It still runs as fast as the day I bought it and it never crashes. Six years and counting.

Previously I owned a half dozen Windows-based pieces of sh*t that required hours of anti-virus downloads, scans and virus repairs. They were always the 'wonder' machine when new but six months later they crawled along like a drunk on pay day. I had to take every one of them to my technician for a 'tune up' at least once a year, usually some crap about the registry. I spent more time swearing at the computer than working, and they cost me more than the difference between the cost of a real working, unix based, logical system. Does that sound familiar to you?

I laugh when Microslut users tell me my Mac is no better than Windoze. Now who is really drinking the Kool Aid?

PS Know how Bill Gates came up with the Microsoft name? He was trying to jerk off.

Lol...
Been a windows user for a long time....mainly out of necessity as work provided (and required) use of those systems. It's looking like this debate (windows vs. mac) is gradually becoming a false dichotomy. There is now a third flavor of "Kool Aid" and that of course is Google which IMO is the best tasting of all

Google is an application and a search engine, not an operating system, and, yes I use Google. Who doesn't?!! Not Chrome 'tho, I prefer Firefox.

Windows is still just DOS dressed up like a hooker.

Google is a company which has a search engine, a whole host of applications and hardware ranging from productivity (Google docs), to entertainment (google play), to search appliance, to media sharing tools (chromecast and chromecast audio) and yes... even includes an operating system which runs on their ChromeBooks.

I use both Chrome and Firefox (and even *shudder* IE and/or Edge at times), depending on what I'm having to do.

Unfortunately....you're mistaken. Google is now in the OS game... has been for a little while now. And since Google controls most of the internet don't be surprised if Apple and Windows continue to lose OS and consumer device market-share to Google.

OK, back to basics, what are the different sites that flit up very quickly & semi opaque in the bottom left hand corner of my screen that seem to be far more prolific on this website than other???

Windows 10

Bought a new laptop in September 2015, made the mistake of upgrading from windows 8 to 10, basically I paid for the laptop but in reality Microsoft owns it.
With the conversation on this thread I installed Chrome, much better than Edge for most things, an I use "browsing incognito " which helps with speeding up the loading time.

Ubuntu anyone? Firefox on a Linux OS works pretty good for me. No slave to any of them. Free too.

PPS, even when l typed it took 10 seconds or more for the words to appear on this post!!!!
Suggest getting the latest version of Firefox or Chrome browser (the two mainstream browser options). Some sites can be more sensitive to the browser used than others and it is important to keep current with the frequent upgrades to software. It is also important to have the latest version of Flash, the video playback software used on the Internet.

Thnx 2wheels but l did change to the latest Chrome, cleared out my caches, trashes, cupboards & closets & this is still the slowest forum on the internet without a doubt!!!!
l'm now convinced it's all the ads & pop ups that the owners of the site are reaping the benefits of, & judging by the small amount of traffic on here, they have sold themselves well!!!!
