UPS prices have gone WAY UP

On our Versys 1000 - took the bare seat pan and put it into a box in which it barely fit. Total weight - 6.5 pounds

Going from Missouri to California and UPS terminal says $56. Huh? Drove down the road and found a UPS "Store" and they said $64.

Wow.

Next morning - to the U.S. Post Office. Now it's Saturday in Missouri..... "$25.15 for Priority Mail and it will be in California on Monday. Will that be OK ? "

THAT is a large difference.

No matter where you go - there you are.

Yep its been like that i use to buy and sell seats for the Versys or shipping off a stock seat to be modified. Fed-Ex was over $50.00 USPS was $17.00 to $27.00 depending on where it was going...

Cross border shipments are even worse with the main courier companies. They charge $20-$30 per shipment, to the package receiver, not the sender, for hidden "customs brokerage" fees if there is an international border being crossed. USPS/Canada Post do not charge extra.

As far as I can tell, "customs brokerage" fees mean they act as a 3rd party, to collect sales tax owed to the government on items purchased outside the country. So in effect I am paying the courier company an extra $20-$30 for the privilege of collecting sales tax on the declared value of the item, from me.
