I'm thinking the X300 would be a good 2nd bike because it is 90lbs lighter than my V650-LT. I'm wanting a bike lightweight enough to mount on a hitch carrier on my SUV. Something small & lightweight yet still not a toy (aka. Grom or Z125). Something like this pic with a Versys X300 on it would be a great fun addition to my road trips! (note: image not mine - just a stock pic from google)
Went to Norms for breakfast in Lakewood. On the way back stopped by Mid-Cities Honda/Kawasaki. Saw the twin brother to my bike for $10,999.00 and a 2017 650 next to it. Ask the sales guy when they would get in a V-300 he said they got it in yesterday. It was in the shop getting assembled...
Very nice. I can't imagine you were able to follow Kawasaki break in guidelines. Ill start breaking in mine tomorrow, and I cannot drive that slow on roads where 60 to 80 plus is the norm. Ill be gentle as I can.
I break in on the country roads near my house. Just do engine loading and engine braking for 100 miles, while not exceeding the RPMs. Then change the oil, and start riding while continuing to vary RPMs.
nice! break in... meh, 1st thing... don't over heat, don't over rev. drive it "firmly", work it a bit harder each time, use engine braking. do not baby it, change oil early. keep it cool. drive it firmly, working it a bit harder each time... maybe climb some hills and coast back down in gear with acceleration bursts. don't baby it
Been driving mine to 6000 RPM's in every gear and I will increase the RPM's as I pile on more mileage. Been using engine breaking at every stop. Also varying the speed when possible. 6000 RPM's is about 50 mph on my GPS. Anything slower and I'll get rear ended out here.
I had the chance to check one out at Daytona bike week and I was rather impressed with it. I wish Kawi would make a 650X version.
