Quick question... I received a PM and can't reply to it until I have ** posts?
After registering and after two posts and 48 hours you should be able to send and receive PM from and to anyone. If you can't, post in your introduction thread with the title PM problem! There is a delayed time after the 48 hours and 2 posts, at 49 hours the promotion updates the two post, so 49 hours and 1 minute
you are free to send and receive or post anywhere except How To Forum
This thread is closed/ locked ,as spammers in the past would join and hide in inactive members introduction threads, 48 hours they would spam the whole forum.
So I see a couple issues that new members may not be aware of;
To reply to a PM click on your message first it will open, click QUOTE
, compose your message and send / submit. To Check your sent messages, click PM, second down from in box is sent, if you don't have your user CP set to save messages, well you won't have any, if you want this changed and you can't figure how to, send me a PM , I can change it for you!
A second method instead of Quoting to reply to a PM would be to click on the user name and second down, send PM
this allows you to chose a subject then compose and send your message
If you have say 2 messages showing, first click on PM opens the message, you can delete it by checking the box on the right, scrolling down and change under selected messages
the default is move to folder and GO
there are a further 7 functions you can change. It will continue to show 2 messages, click PM message again, opens the second one, a third click basically exits your PM.
Second related to saving PM, under user CP scroll down and view Private messages, this is what you will see:
Send New Message
Click edit folders, again having a second browser open makes it easy peasy ( OK EDDIE I need a new one), you can copy user names like any other copy and paste method using right click. When you add a new user make sure to scroll to the bottom of the Edit Folders and SAVE
So Say you have added Onewizard, you have added Onewizard to your Edit Folders, saved it, now click on your PM, the message from Onewizard, check the box to the right scroll down. In the case of moving the PM Onewizard
Under selected messages
to the right you want to see Move To Folder
, to the right of that you should see GO1
click GO1, a new window should open, with your list of saved users, find Onewizard, beside that box click GO
, clicking anything will exit this ( well that is a stretch ) From here in experiment, again my advice is have two browsers open, the first one with a topic you were viewing and the second is where you are experimenting, when in doubt open 3 browsers, your extreme left ( first one) don't screw with, all else fails you got it to fall back on.
