Newbie asks about fueling the Versys

Howdy!

I wanted to ask this in the Technical Forum but I haven't been cleared for that yet.
No probs, I'll ask here instead.

I managed to find copies of the Versys 1000 & 650 manuals online somewhere.
Each of them says, as I understand them, to never use Ethanol when fueling.
Then they go on to say that the Brazil & Asian versions DO allow for ethanol fuels.
My questions are:

1.Are the machines sold in the US ok with ethanol gas?

2. Has anyone tried using ethanol-free gas in them(& the result)?

3. Are any fuel additives recommended for the Versys?

TIA,

OldGaffer

Suggestions are to NOT ever use higher than 10% ethanol, and you can get ethanol-free gas, but it's usually high-test from "certain stations".

Thanks Guys,

The nearest ethanol-free station is 50 miles away.
I do run ethanol-free in my mower FWIW but that
I can buy in a can from Home Depot.

Ah, the word "can" reminded me about this regarding Home Depot, "Someone needs to tell Home Depot that the toilets in the plumbing department are for display purposes only." A statement credited to Larry The Cable Guy.

For those non-Americans on the forum, don't ask.

Especially if you have a bit of a pot belly and you wore a plaid shirt with sleeves ripped off and a dirty camouflage baseball cap!

Oh, wait. That would make you Larry The Cable Guy!!

Gawd I hate ethanol laced gas. Here in NJ, there are no ethanol-free. Up to 10% is ok. I also add (year round) an ethanol equalizer such as StarTron. I haven't had any problems.

So what do you do with the water and ethanol? And just what kind of pump? You seem to be talking from experience, you may want to get fire insurance on that new home

Shake it, don't stir it. Pour it and put an olive in it.
