Rapid Transit Recon 19 Liter Tank Bag

The Recon tank bag from Rapid Transit is an extremely versatile, mid-sized bag that is packed with features. With a 19 liter capacity in a streamlined form, you'll have plenty of room to pack your essentials on top of the tank without feeling like you're sitting behind a suitcase. This mid-sized storage capacity is combined with a great set of features to make the Recon tank bag a great option for nearly any rider.

The main compartment of the Recon has enough room for a change of clothes, a camera, and any other small miscellaneous items you may need on your ride. It even has a pocket for a water bladder (sold separately) with holes that allow you to route the hose through an external access slot for easy use. There are also a variety of small pockets inside and out that provide both easy access and a way to stay organized. External pockets include a cellphone/mp3 player pocket and a map pocket - both of which have clear viewing windows.

While it may not be a top choice for the hardcore adventure rider, it does feature a 100D Nylon construction that is both wind and water resistant. There is also a standard rain cover that hides away in its own zippered pouch for times when the weather really takes a turn for the worse. The waterproofing extends to the access ports for the hydration bladder hose and headphone cords with waterproof gates on each. Great features can be found from top to bottom, and the bottom features scratchguard rubberized contact fabric so you don't have to worry about your tank getting scratched up while you ride. The bottom also has connections for a set of included straps that allow you to quickly convert the tank bag to a backpack.

It's not always easy to find a bag that combines plentiful storage, form, and function, but the Recon does a great job of it. If you are looking for a great tank bag for your daily commute or weekend rides you can pick the Rapid Transit Recon tank bag up from Riders Discount by sending MIKE a PM or calling him at 866.931.6644 ext. 804 to order. Just let us know if you want the magnetic or strap mount and we’ll get you taken care of. You can also send an email to FORUM at RIDERSDISCOUNT dot COM with Rapid Transit Recon in the subject line and we’ll get back to you right away.

The externally access ports for both the hydration hose and headphones are gated to keep the elements out.

Hey All, I actually have this bag for my V and I think it's great,I've gone on weekend trips and the bag didn't budge once. You have to wiggle it around and make the magnets sit right but once you do it's a great bag. My only complaint is that the cell phone pocket doesn't hold the larger touch screen phones like my HTC EVO

I also have this bag and use it on my versys. I fold the side magnets under the bag and they grip on there just fine.

Likewise... I purchased this bag well before I purchased the Versys. Fits fine. I have the strap mount version (it was originally purchased for a BMW R1100S, so mostly plastic around the tank).

2003 BMW R1100S Boxer Cup Prep (sold)
2004 Suzuki SV650 (sold, wish I hadn't)
2009 Kawasaki Versys (commuter/dragon slayer)
Future bike: Ducati Sport 1000S (just because )

I LOVE this bag!

I installed it back-to-front and I slide the fabric of the side magnets between the tank-colored side covers and the tank itself. That, and the two center magnets hold it very securely in place.

It holds a lot of stuff in the main compartment, has zippers to create many separate side compartments and it holds my Camelbak bladder. Very convenient.

Oh, and it looks good, because it has a curve to its main shape, it is not a rectangular cookie tin sitting on top of the curvaceous Versys.

I have had my Recon for about 4 or 5 years now. Started off with it on my 2002 Honda Nighthawk 750. Got the Recon 45 saddlebags and Recon 23 tailbag to match. Plus an Outpost. This is very well built luggage.

I was worried that it wouldn't fit the Versys when I traded. But like others have said, simply tuck the magnet flaps under the bag. Even tho' it might wobble a little it will not come off, even whippin' the bike through the Arkansas Dragon!

I have modified my bag a little, putting a Powerlet socket just to the left of the "sunglasses pocket". All the electric wiring is looped under the hydro pouch, with a Chatterbox nesting snuggly in the inside left-hand pocket. The PTT and helmet cable wires come out the front ports. And I connected a forearm mapcase to the front rings, since the map pocket on the bag isn't worth a hoot IMO.

Personaly, I don't think you can find any other tank bag with as many features and for the price.
