The quest for a corner in Texas...

I have been in Houston 5 days and my biggest adventure so far is a ride to Walmart (see below) so I have decided to head out west in search of some bends. Staying in a motel in Kerrville on Wed. night (testing out the tent will have to wait!) and I believe the 3 sisters are in that area so I shall give the bike a damn good thrashing and see how she responds.

I shall try to produce a video or two but my 1st attempt is pitiful..

.....apologies for the chipmunks which must have stowed away on the bike.

Anyway, wish me luck (mainly getting out of Houston!) and if you see a green V650 with a GB sticker riding by, give me a wave. If I am lying in a crumpled heap ring for an ambulance and the medical insurance docs are in the tank bag. ; )

Leakey, that's the town I stayed in when I did the Sisters about two years ago. Real nice burger joint about half a mile out of town. If you have Verizon you won't get ANY service.

Be safe and have fun. Great roads out that way.

Keep it rubber side down and enjoy the ride

@farmerboy - Looks like you have the $50-ish green LED gear indicator I see on eBay?? Doe sit work ok? Mind share which vendor you bought from? It connects to the the diagnostic plug under the seat correct?

Thanks

I hope you remembered to pack your tire plugging kit! Go back next month to the MotoGP race near Austin and see which Spaniard wins!

Using a phone for this is tricky. Link should be above?
Yea Jim. It is bril. Came from china and works a treat although it is a bit slow!!! Easy to fit and just plugs in under the seat. Bargain!

Well I have arrived in the land of twisty roads and life is good. Bike is bloody wonderful and I love it! Happy to sit at any speed and just eats up the miles. Seat is not as bad as I expected and the screen is ok as well!
The run In procedure is a distant memory and the bike is starting to loosen up a bit.
My kit bag makes a nice backrest and I can stand up and rest my backside on it to get the blood flowing.

Petrol pumps hate my credit card and I have to go inside and plead for fuel but otherwise a glorious Texan day.

I could not resist a blast out of kerrville towards medina and that was interesting! Bike handles like a charm but noticed a lot of critters about the place! I think I shall stay off the bike in the evenings!

Cannot see how to post pics on the phone but will try later.

This has to be the best value all round bike available. Very impressed!

You'll have to hit the corners pretty hard to rid the tire of those strips............it should be fun.

Just been out for some grub and the lights are all over the place. So badly aligned it is not funny! I paid 350 dollars for "rigging" by the dealer. I was robbed!
Is it possible to get a hand to the adjusters on the headlights?

looks like you will need a wrench or stubby phillips screw driver. A leatherman or pliers might work. you can see the screws on back side of faring. they have large multi-toothed washer on them. top ones are for horizontal adjust, bottom for vertical.

Done some turns now!
Just back from the rodeo after a very, very busy day.. 3 sisters this morning, ride back to Houston in dreadful traffic then Rodeo followed by some herbert playing guitar.. now officially knackerd!
Some unedited video - sorry about the clicking - its the clutch hitting the camera.

This little bike is a credit to Mr Kawasaki... I hate to say this but I think I prefer it to my R1200RT!

I've ridden those same roads a few times and it's a joy. Peaceful riding when just taking your time on a pretty day. Biggest issues are the critters crossing the roads, turkeys, rabbits, deer, possums, coyote, and yes a farm truck or two backing out a driveway unexpected. I can't wait to log some real miles on my V.
