Quick ride to Horseshoe Reservoir Monday

We are meeting at 9:30 on the corner of Cave Creek Rd, and N. Pima Rd. tomorrow morning for a little ride to Horseshoe Reservoir to hopefully view the overflow tube. I can't guarantee they it will be flowing, but it is a rare sight to see. All are welcome if you can make it. BTW, it is an easy graded road but most likely will have a few puddles here and there.

Nice spot. Enjoy. I'll be at work or else I'd roll.

Hope you have a SAFE, and uneventful ride - I won't venture onto AZ dirt for several days after it rains here....

Yeah, mud isn't my favorite either, but I have ridden a couple of my dirt bikes over Horseshoe Dam (on the walkway) and always thought it would be cool to see water discharged through that giant tube. I know there is no guarantee that will be taking place, but this is probably the highest odds I will get of that happening. I have another friend, also a Canadian going with me, but he is riding a Super Tenere and his tires are more like 90/10. Mine are 50/50, and the road has always been in good shape when I've ridden it before. I figure most of the mud will sling off before I get home and a quick hose down will get the girl all shiny again. I'll post some pictures this evening.

Great trip report

Some of the shots reminded me of being behind Niagara Falls - but you didn't have to pay the big bucks to get there - just some sweat equity.

Cheers

Terrific report, the desert is really alive right now... I hear they may be draining over the spillway at Horseshoe several times as the snow in the hills starts to melt over the next month or two, might be worth a trip up to have a look from time to time. Thanks, BigL!

Very nice. Didn't know you could go under the water fall. Sweet. Thanks.
