To the end of Hwy 20 (wetside)

Highway 20 is closed due to snow in the winter. I took a drive
a couple of weeks ago to see the conditions, so here we go....

Looks cold.........I lived in Oak Harbor, and Burlington for over 40 years. The North Cascade Highway is one of the best rides in the US...........just not in February.

Usually the glacier run off keeps those lakes an emerald green under the summer sun. I guess not so in winter. I love that road, but the peaks have always been clouded over when I've ridden it.

The Cascade Loop is my favourite ride in the Pacific North West.

Great photos - thanks for sharing.

Although I have had Miss Jaffa (Burnt Orange 2007 Versys) for a while, I still have a lot to learn.

Beautiful pics -- but I'm still glad I moved to sunny Florida!

I look forward to the highway opening every year.
Last year it opened on April 22. Here is a pic
looking at Liberty Bell Mountain from the dry side,
on opening day.

On opening day it's a sprint to Washington Pass
as there is no on comming traffic for quite a ways,
and no WSP in line behind.

Will you be at the head of the queue?

Perhaps next year - unfortunately my wife and I are driving up Vancouver Island to Campbell River at that time.

Although I have had Miss Jaffa (Burnt Orange 2007 Versys) for a while, I still have a lot to learn.

The pass did open, I stayed home. Snow level down to 3,000', 2-4" predicted today.
I'll try it when the weather is right.
