Lake Berryessa, California

SCR's first Big Group ride of the year on one of our favorite loops; Lake Berryessa. The weather was perfect. 20 riders showed up. I missed KSU, so I rode by myself the first half until I caught up with the big group. Then we finished the ride at Berryessa Brewing Company for BBQ and refreshments. What a day! We were having a blast here while people in Oroville were being evacuated!

As always, the Versys was a fantastic bike on the wild twisties of Berryessa's Road 128. This time I kept it well within the powerband. That meant 3rd gear mostly (5-7,000 rpms) and 4th gear (3-5,000 rpms). That gave me a lot of confidence negotiating the constant changing road conditions (dry-moist-wet-gravelly-muddy).

Highway 128 is one of Norcal's many roads that seems to have been made for motorcycles. I looked at some of your other links, and you have also got some of my other favorites listed. We really have so many great choices here and spring really starts about mid- February. The hills are super green and the trees are leafing out, etc.

Do you have a favorite ride or stretch of road you love? Mine is the stretch of Hwy 1 between Leggett and Westport, pure motorcycle heaven!

Not sure I would ride with your group though as I've slowed down a bit with age. You guys ride at a fast clip!

Lake Berryessa!! Wow, I haven't thought about that lake or heard the name in ages. Lived, and went to high school, in Vacaville many, many years ago - class of '63. At the time Vacaville was something like 15,000 people and only deserved two exits on the Interstate, not counting the Nut Tree. Went back two years ago and was astounded. The small tree my father planted in the middle of the front yard is now a huge 55 year old grandfather of a tree. How time flies.

This title brought back memories for me as well-1988 when I was in the military we would go there to party and jump off the bridge. Man, the stupid things we do when we are young!! Nice ride vid BTW.

Hi, I like the Sierra Nevada Foothills any day. Mosquito Ridge Road, The Oroville-Quincy-Laporte Loop, Road 128 from Albion (Pacific Coast) to Cloverdale is awesome and leisurely.
I am actually a C-Pace rider, as I prefer to ride safe and be able to turn my head to look at things. I live in Elk Grove, we might cross paths some day.
