riding dirt roads S and E of Florence, AZ

Yesterday was forecast to be hi-70s (actually set a record 80F in Tucson!), so I decided to go for a ride. Called 'skipper1940', a new inmate here as well as my neighbor, who rides a '15 650LT w/ DS rubber. He was "up" for it, so I rode to his place at 1215, chatted about my planned ride, and we headed out at 1230, first stop gas for him, then S on AZ 79 to the Florence-Kelvin Hwy, then E about 12 miles to the intersection w/ the Barkerville Road, and S about 14 miles to the Freeman Road (I've posted up pics of this one quite often, so I won't "bore" you today w/ MORE pics of it...), then when we got to the Freeman Road we turned E for about a mile and a half, then S onto the Willow Springs Road (which I'd NOT ridden before) to this view of Mt Lemmon, snow visible on its top.

As I was in the lead (having a 'BLAST' on-the-throttle......) I didn't stop for pics till we turned around about 5.5 miles from the S end of the road where it joins AZ 77, basically flat-looking, and Skip took the lead back N. I told him that I'd be slower than him (I'm probably ALWAYS slower...) as I'd stop for pics, but to wait when he got to the Freeman Rd intersection. Saw where the road would have been 'challenging' a few days earlier after the rain

then saw him waiting for me. Shared water,

then he headed W, then N onto the Barkerville Rd where I took a few MORE pics.

The Superstition Mountains were 'glowing' in the late afternoon light...

then we rejoined at the Florence-Kelvin, turning W to AZ 79, then N..., and home - arriving after a PDG ride of 115 miles in just under four hours.

What a GREAT way to 'while away the hours' on a nice Sunday afternoon, riding my Versys along w/ a buddy on his...! BTW - we rode about 58 miles of dirt roads......!
