Painted my rusty headers with some paint I had lying around.

I still have a full deck.
I just shuffle slower.

Note: I have no time to waste because I’m older at this moment than I’ve ever been before,
… and it’s the youngest I’m ever going to get.

Welcome...

I'm still shopping for a Versys 650 and a couple other brands of used bikes.

Nice job on those headers. I'm seeing alot of '07-'08 Versys', Verysi'? But I think I want to hold out for a newer year model for the improvements that came on them. I did find a '12 Versys, blk/yellow, 5K miles, pretty good price. What year after 2008 models were upgrades made?

@fasteddie...

Hey thanks for that reply fasteddie. I've been doing alot of searching on this and other sites trying to learn more about the couple different used bikes I'm window shopping. I shoulda searched that info on my own, but again thanks. That was helpful.

I sat on brand new, 2016 Versys 650, very nice. Just won't be riding so much that I can justify a brand new bike. It was at my local yamaha/suzuki/kawasaki dealer that I stopped at last week on my way home from a dealer that had a '11 Wee.

The independent bike shop across town had the '11 DL650 V Strom. It was on consignment. Nice enough bike, pretty well equipped. It had been lightly laid down and it had minor scuffs. It's been sitting there since Sept '15. I made a cash offer and store called owner. He wouldn't meet my price, which was about $450 less than asking, I didn't think I was lowballing him.

I was still considering it. Then I asked shop owner if they might throw in a oil change/fluid changes or even at just a discounted price. They balked and said I'd have to pay for any service out of pocket. She said the file showed there hadn't been any maintenance done on the bike. I heard her ask owner on ph, when was last time he had any fluids changed. He said, I thought y'all handled all that for me while my bike was there. They weren't on same page about that. While I was entering my car to leave, she yelled out the door, the owner dropped price $250 more. I'm guessing that was the shop, just trying to make a sale.

I would still want some maintenance done on it before I drove it off. So I guess I'd be giving most that $250 discount back on any maintenance I'd ask to be done. Oh well, my search continues. And that's the only shop I've been to for a used bike. Mostly shopping personal ad ownership for the best deals.

I just think I'd appreciate the newer features on the Wee and Versys bikes I'm looking at now. Although, I still have a very good priced, '06 Honda 919 in my sights, so nothing is off the table.

For your first bike, tipover protection is a very worthwhile investment after good riding gear for you. You will drop the bike, and yourself at some point while you are developing your skills.
