Top 10 Signs Itís Time To Winterize Your Bike

Quote:
Iíve often felt that the real reason many motorcyclists donít winterize their motorcycles is that they keep holding off in hopes to squeeze in one more ride. Although the MO Towers are located in Southern California, many of us ventured from colder climes to the Great American West in an effort to enjoy year-Ďround riding. The journalism gig is just something we managed to weasel our way into as a means of supporting our habit.

In an effort to help dedicated riders in places that have real winter, the following list contains sure-fire signals that it is time to winterize your motorcycle rather than continue riding it or letting it sit unprepared developing the mechanical manifestations of Parked Motorcycle Syndrome.

Still riding here - north of the 49th parallel. Next week looks good too with daytime highs just slightly above 0C/32F and no accumulated snow.

It's all about cold weather gear and heated gloves or grips - at least that's what makes it bearable Is there anyone else who enjoys riding in cooler temperatures?

Well it was a brutal 67 degrees here today. Almost had to put on a long sleeved shirt...

Planning a ride on Sunday.

Should be 5 or 6C / low 40's.

Time to get out the heated gloves.

Although I have had Miss Jaffa (Burnt Orange 2007 Versys) for a while, I still have a lot to learn.

Went for a ride today - 35F / 1 to 2C, but hit ice about 3 mile / 5 km from home so we we pretended we were on Harleys and headed for the Discovery Coffee shop.

i noticed versys consumes more gas in the cold. Last fill up showed around 37mpg after riding in the cold (30-40f). Is it the case with everyone? My versys consumes around 46-50mpg in the summer.

Yup - mileage down when it's cold, for me as well.
