After a long struggle with the pros / cons, I have decided to keep my Versys and is no longer for sale. The Versys is a great bike and quite honestly when I had a buyer lined up to come get it this weekend, I had a sinking feeling that I was doing the wrong thing. He backed out and I felt a bit relieved. I would have let it go as I would never back out if someone was interested. I would have bought the NC.

So looks like you guys are gonna have to put up with me for the foreseeable future!!

Look "Kirk" - IF we're 'stuck' with you now, how about a more up-to-date avatar...?

Thats awesome Kirk! The Capn gets lost on some planet with all the beautiful gals or in this case bikes lol, but finally comes back!

Good God wake up man, we almost lost you!

Funny thing is, I did the same thing about two months ago, and backed out of a trade with a Dealer. He did not care less, It was hard on me!

Glad you are here for know Capn!

Of course the dealer had no attachment. The see them come and go all the time. It is business. Would this trade be regarding the Honda comment??

I agree that you made the right decision to keep the Versys. It is a hard bike to beat.

The versys is going to be a hard bike to let go. I can only fit one more bike in my garage now that my nephew is back from overseas and will collect his motorcycle. It has to be something very different than what I currently own. The Versys will one day get replaced with a larger adventure bike with cruise and driveshaft, but not this year. The Versys has the distinction of getting the most miles put on in the first year of ownership, 15,400 miles. I will probably wait until my next door neighbor is ready to buy it and then I will sell it to him for trade in plus 1/2 price of all the accessories.

I am looking at a modern retro to add to my stable. Liking the moto guzzi because they have drive shaft and just look old school cool. Of course, if Kawasaki would announce bringing the w800 to the US, I would wait on one of those.

What about the CB1100? or have you ruled it out because of chain drive?

If they make a cafe version or make it where you can bolt on accessories like in the early 80s when I started riding. Those UJMs could be turned into everything from drag bikes, cafe racers, to full blown tourers. Todays bikes are so specialized.

I had a '77 or '78 Honda 550 Four Supersport bike from 87 - 93. Riding position similar to the Versys IMO.

I have been looking at that one for myself in addition to my V. Two problems, would have to be the white version (not sold here in the US....of course) and I want the street tires or motard version. I can't stand red Honda motorcycles. I found a photo of exactly what I want. Someone built a white one up with motard wheels & tires..... Maybe in a year or two they will make motard version.. If not, I may snag a different color and build one myself.. Or maybe I can find a good deal on a WR250X!

Nice, but the modern seats don't compare to the dual sports from the '90s. My '93 Honda XR250L is all day comfortable and has a low enough seat height that you can stop on uneven ground and still put your feet down. I had a DRZ400S and it was a great bike except for the seat and the range.

I don't need the range. The motard will be a ridden around town and into neighboring towns (30 minutes or less at a time).. For the day long ride with friends, or the need for storage, I would take the V. These lightweight dual sports are no good for highway riding IMO. I don't like riding a bike in the highway that is wound out and is being blown all over the road. They are not as powerful as a mid sized bike but they sure can be thrown around and flogged for a ton-o-fun around town.

Hey Capn',

They play well together.
You'd be surprised what can little Honda do.
