My 2015 versys 650 LT has the official Givi-versys top case installed. My bike is in the shop for repairs at the moment and I'm switching the cases to Trecker outbacks. I'm getting new mounts for the side cases, but does anyone know if I need to buy a new mount for the top case? Thanks for any help!
Greetings. I would imagine every brand / top case maker has their own mounting system. Givi would not be interchangeable with SW Motec for example. Hope that helps.
I believe the Givi Trekker Outback series uses the Monokey mounts, so they should work with the OEM Kawasaki/Givi rack. Check to make sure your new side case racks work with the OEM rack, though. I put SW-Motech racks on my 2015 ABS model that wouldn't work with the Givi top case (non-OEM) rack I had, so I had to buy a SW-Motech top rack. Twisted Throttle and Revzilla are usually great for advice on compatibility issues.
Thanks! That's what I wanted to hear. I am getting the correct brackets for the side cases, was just curious on whether I needed to replace the top rack as well. As far as I can see, you are correct, both the Outbacks and OEM Versys top case share a mounting system.
