2015 Kawasaki Green Versys 650LT 39xx miles

I know that some of you know that I laid down my Electra Glide back in October. I had quite a bit of surgery and I hope to tour again soon, but I just don't think the Versys is going to work for me. I bought it in August and barely got a chance to ride it before I had the accident with my other bike, and now the Versys riding position is killing my back (now with two rods, 8 screws, and a bracket in it). So if anyone is interested, please let me know. The only modifications I made were to add the Motowerk highway pegs mod and a throttle lock. If I could get $6500 for it that would be great, and I have a truck, so I could deliver it within a reasonable distance of central Florida. Of course, you could always pick it up -- Bike Week is coming up! PM me for more pics and details. Thanks, everyone.

Bummer. I have a friend down here in Lake County looking to buy something this week. He's a bit torn between a V and a Soft Tail. He needs something either lighter or not as tall as the Connie 1400 he has now. He has located a used Soft Tail at Gator's that he is fixin to test ride today.

I'll let him know.

Yeah, if you want true ram air tuning, you better be willing to ram some air! (SiSF)

Wow -- you know how close I am to Gainesville? About an hour. So have him drop me an e-mail at chrisfla1958@gmail.com if he's interested. Oh -- and tell him that the reason I got rid of MY Softail when I moved down here is that the oil tank is on the right side of the bike under your thigh, and it gets sooooo hot in the summer!! An oil cooler won't fix it because the oil goes from the engine to the oil tank and THEN to the cooler. That's why I sold it and bought the V. There's nothing like a bike with a radiator when you live in sunny Florida!

Actually, we live south of you in Tavares, between Leesburg and Mount Dora. You are just a hop skip and a jump along Ocala NF. 35 minutes on the back roads from Gator Joe's.

I'm thinkin he is leaning Soft Tail, but will pass on the info. He's not riding it until Wed, he picked up a bit of the flue. Also was misinformed on the dealer, Lucky You in Wildwood has the HD.

Today I put an ad on the Ocala Craigslist, asking for $6700. I asked for more there than I did here 'cause I know you guys know better. ;-) But I did have a guy in Orlando contact me and tell me he wants to buy it, but he has to sell his 750 Honda Shadow first. And so it goes...

I never did understand those type of inquiries. Are they hinting around hoping that maybe you will say you will take the shadow in trade? Are they just dreamers? I've had guys contact me saying they want the bike, but will have to convince the wife. Never hear back from them. Why aren't they convincing the wife and then calling?

This guy actually did ask me if I wanted to trade mine for his (NO!), but he linked me to his ad on Craigslist, so I guess he's been trying to sell it for awhile. Those Honda Shadows are a dime a dozen.

You could always off him what you think you could sell it for quickly and have him leave the title blank except for his signature.

Of course, if he has to wait to sell that one before he can buy he probably doesn't have cash at hand to pay the difference.

It's so ironic, Steve -- Harley's advertising is so much about being "different" and being an "individual," and yet there's so much pressure in many motorcycle communities to buy a Harley and be just like everyone else. It takes guts to ride a Versys. The Beemer people don't like you 'cause you're poor and the Harley people have serious doubts about your legitimacy as a "real biker." I'd been riding for 24 years before I bought my new 2007 Electra Glide, and nobody took me seriously as a motorcycle rider until I did that... Before that, I was just a "girl" riding "girl bikes," even though my '82 Kawasaki 1100 Spectre was a lot harder to ride (that thing was a tank!) than that Harley ever was. Oh well.

Sort of that rugged individualist, just like everyone else.

It's all good. Same wind, different tool to enjoy it.

How soon before resumption of touring?

I'm headed up to No GA mountains for a few days, leaving tomorrow. Then taking off for Big Bend country, and up to the Carolinas via a rally in AR in early April, lasting for about four weeks.

Never have and never will be a "real biker". I am a motorcycle enthusiast. I currently own Harley, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Moto Guzzi. I have owned Triumph, Suzuki and Honda as well.

I have never had anyone say I was riding a girl bike to my face. I don't go to "biker" gatherings. I have found most Harley riders are respectful professionals but that may be because I live where there are as many PhDs as silicon valley. When you make the statement "It isn't rocket science", a rocket scientist might be in ear shot.

When I have toured on my Versys, or Concours, or Triumph, or Voyager I have always had curious people start a conversation when they see my plates and how far from home I am. Haven't done a big tour on the Harley yet.

Oh, and I don't dress like a pirate. I've been known to wear a Triumph branded jacket on the Road Glide Ultra. Really confuses people.

Well, I rode almost 50 miles on the Versys (the only bike I still have) the other day, but I had an hour break in the middle of it. So I'm trying.

That is Harleys Marketing machine prompting you to buy from the "wish book" of Harley accessories to make your bike your own. You could easily drop another $20,000 customizing your bike. Punch out that engine with a Stage 1, II, III, IV, or V kit. Custom pipes. Custom Tins, Custom wheels, They have themes like willyG skulls, sunbursts etc. so you can change out your controls. You can change out your chrome parts for black, or add more chrome, Seats, luggage, etc. etc.

I would say all the other motorcycle manufacturers are jealous of the success Harley has with all the factory accessories.

Kawasaki will make one batch of accessories and when they are gone, they are gone.

I personally spent $3800 making the Versys into the bike I wanted. The guys who go with off road wheels can end up doubling the price of the bike.

Well, gentlemen, I've decided to keep the V. Yesterday I went to a Harley shop and sat on the exact same type/year of Harley I had, and I couldn't get it off the side stand :-( And even the Sportsters that I could get off the side stand -- I still couldn't pull in the clutch! So I guess I'll be beginning the farkling journey that so many have taken before me. Wish me luck!

Moved to General Comments

Since it is no longer for sale and many positive comments, I thought it appropriate to just move the whole thread. Further discussion can carry on by the OP , consider it your thread
I am in the process/presently doing a ton of wiring, Innovv K1 camers, led strip white running and led strip yellow signal , both on the barkbusters, white will toggle with yellow when signaling , should be obvious when I am being approached from the front. Final parts finally arrived from China, only took 3 months, apparently the word is something screwy going on since December with China shipping, everything before to 5 weeks maximum!
