80 cruise, day after day. 80 actual is only a little over 6000 on my bike with stock gearing and a 150/70 rear. get a good heavy weight full synthetic in there, like 15/50 M1, or equal.

i don't recommend changing the stock gearing for cross country trips since you encounter so many different conditions on a loaded bike, and it makes a difference in how the motor pulls the overdrive gears, ie 5th and 6th. headwinds, mountain grades, and passing traffic, for instance.
