It's a brave man who shows a picture of his baby and asks for comments on how it looks.

That said, I think your baby is very handsome but I have the stock rack that came with my Versys. For all I do, it's fine. Doubt I'd want to replace it. Would consider yours if I was adding a rack to a bike that didn't have one. Maybe $250?

Due to no answer from ktmduals I've ordered the Kawi rack for my '15.

After looking around online and not finding much that appealed to me in the racks decided to fabricate my own even though I'm not well versed in the fabrication process. Ordered from Kawi brackets for the 1000 stock plate keeping in mind that way I could utilize multiple plates by removing 4 screws. Looking to make another rack out of stainless with rod holders to carry my fishing gear. Yes heavy and overkill but not really that adventurous yet to were this issue bothers me. This is the first plate which turned out OK. Tried to sorta follow the lines of the tail. Close but no cigar! Bunny says its fine!

Yes - it's the Kawi one, and I've made-up an aluminum one (20"x24") to attach to it when I'm "going somewhere".... Used it on my "Gopher Safari", and it worked well.

Then I added another brake-light to it, below, and attached to the Kawi rack.

2009 Versys Rear Rack

I recently purchased a solid steel Gen 1 rear rack from ktmduals and wanted to share my experience. The rack is of a sturdy steel construction, nicely welded and powder coated. It came with plastic pieces that screw onto the handholds for more comfortable gripping. Installation was quick and easy, though I had an issue come up due to my Givi side racks. Installation begins with the removal of the seat which gives you access to the rear fairings which come off with a screw and plastic fairing clip(remove by pushing the inside part with a small screwdriver). The passenger grab bars then come off with two bolts on each side. The spacer and bolt are reused and the rack fits perfectly in place. My problem came up when I tried to bolt in the top mount of my Givi rack. The positioning is just a little off. I'm sure I could make a mount to fix this, but it seems strong enough without it for now. The rear rack looks awesome once everything's back together and really fits the design. I will be bolting on a top box from another bike, allowing my to lock my helmet etc. Overall I am satisfied with this rack and would recommend it. Attached are some pictures of the mount during installation and after.

Just installed mine. In my hands two days after I ordered it. Fit up perfectly.

I built my own for my last bike but this thing is well worth the $$$. Practically a piece of art. I felt kind of bad mounting my cheap top box on it.

I was looking at top racks for the past 2 years and was told by the Twisted Throttle that nothing really worked well with the Givi side case racks, even the OEM's since those side case racks were made by Givi. This must be the solution. How much did you pay, and who do I order through?

Rayj,
I've got one of his racks that I could let go for a deal. PM me for the details if you are interested.

Just ordered the adv-gear back rack in aluminum. I've been prototyping a few things, but I saw that they'd behave adversely under certain kinds of transient forces, and we don't want that.

It's going to look grungy with a milk crate on the back of the bike, but whatever, it's practical.

Will let people know how this turns out.

I ordered it from Sam at https://www.adv-gear.com/racks-luggage-systems/versys/ . There are several versions of it including steel or aluminum and solid or with holes. You can find prices for all of them in the pull down options. I think I'll eventually fabricate a mount for the top bolt of the Givi rack, but it seems strong enough with the 2 lower bolts for the loads I'm using it for.

looks awesome. givi do some veeerrrry basic rack mounts for about $30. That,s not including mount plate/monolock and top box. I can only guess what you made realistically/competitively could be priced at around $50- $60?
