well, I must disagree strongly.
I just got mine and spent over an hour on it.
It's crap. Expensive crap.
a) first, you have to somehow remove a very strange and tight plastic filling from the bike frame. this is very hard and resulted in breaking this bit in the hole. So I have to delicately drill this plastic out without breaking the threads, which I partly did. Of course there is no space for a drill so it was most of the time wasted to do it by hand. There are no instruction to make this easier.
b) then the instruction ignore the abs sensor cable. much fiddling to align the holes to put back the nut. There is no way I'm removing the wheel for that.
c) all 3 allen key head bolts are crap, they strip in the hex hole and it's nearly impossible to remove. Use the bolt that cam with the bike on the chain guard.
d) as for the 3rd bolt in the nasty clogged hole, this bolt will not go in as deep as it should (and since you cannot force it, YOU MUST find a regular M5 bolt, preferably galvanized and 10mm head. However, the plastic is curved down and could bend and crack, so use a large washer, like 20mm or more.
e) in the end, the hugger WILL NOT protect a 1/4 inch wide slot at the bottom. This is unacceptable fitting for a $230+ part which is just a piece of plastic...

I priced them from Twisted Throttle in March, out of stock but around $120 Canadian, now listed at $125 something, just plastic. I recovered my Skidmarx which is worth $200, fits perfectly on the 2015, but had to make a stainless ABS support bracket, I posted pictures somewhere on this site.
As you are aware, shipping and the low dollar makes anything expensive when bringing into Canada.
By the way thanks for saying it is a piece of crap, at $60 I thought it had to be poor quality, at over $100 it is beyond belief, someone is making a mint!:surprise:

I never included all the commenting and reasons why I went this way, however , here is where much of the comments were made, without starting a new thread
One guy gets his installed in ten minutes, a breeze. Another guy fights his to a draw... And a third guy changes the topic to how we Canadians are getting ripped off by US pricing and outrageous shipping charges. Yes, I live in BC and twistedthrottle.ca is a criminal enterprise with candasmotorcycle.ca not far behind. Often I find my local dealers pricing competitive with mail order from Canada. As far as the hugger I guess I'll just use a hose to clean off the mud. The real problem IMHO is not wanting a skunk stripe up my back from lack of an effective rear fender.
both my 07 and my 2015 mounting is posted in this thread, one other really important thing is the Skidmarx extends down inside the swing arm, and is fiberglass reinforced. Knowing what I know now, worth every penny compared to the half price for the Givi. Go to page 4 of this thread post 64 for pictures
I failed to mention that I have purchased over $2000 worth of bike stuff from Twisted Throttle, and they are my go to place, Excellent customer service and pricing, thought I would clear that up
Honestly, I had zero issues installing the Givi part. My bike is a 2009 without A.B.S., perhaps that complicates things?
Yes, I agree that we get charged way too much for, well, pretty much everything coming North across the border, but that is how things are.
I was treated to a customer service experience that was truly "above and beyond" from Twistedthrottle.ca. The pricing as compared to other online and physical stores is reasonably competitive (at least in Alberta, Canada).
I can buy parts from anybody and anywhere, but I choose to spend my money where I get great customer service.
FYI, I am in no way affiliated with Twistedthrottle.ca or Givi. I have purchased tires from Canadasmotorcycle, and I have so far made one purchase from Twistedthrottle.ca -
Given the option, as long as the pricing is reasonably close, I prefer to support my local businesses. If we all base our purchases solely on price, the local stores will not be there long.
I purchased mine along w/ GIVI hand-guards and luggage side mounts from Motostorm in Italy. Shipping to here (Ohio), regardless of how much I purchased was only $31.44 w/ the mud guard costing only $61.24. The one plug that had to be removed was a real bugger until I tried turning it out, which I could do w/ my fingers after trying to pry it out for over 20 minutes. I didn't mess w/ the screw on the right side initially, so the installation was a breeze. However, after installing a lowering kit, the guard had to be notched which removed the cap screw that went into the plugged hole. Fiddling around trying to get the screw on the side back in took me almost a half hour of sweating - it was terrible.
Motostorm's communication is great and delivery amazing ( a week unless something isn't in stock). The thing that really boggled my mind is I've gotten two shipments from them, a total of (3) boxes, and they arrived in perfect condition w/o a mark from Italy! I can't get something delivered from a state away w/o damage.

Thanks for posting this! I couldn't pull mine out either, but I had read your post and remembered to try turning it. Which wasn't easy since there is no head on it, but I got it to spin and then it came right out.
Seems to fit ok and will help protect underneath the bike, but I can't believe this little piece of plastic costs $125! The bike should come with this from the factory. My Honda CBR250 did.
Can you show a high def picture of how it closes the gap between swingarm and the mud guard edge (with lighting)? Because mine sure is installable but there is a good 1/4 inch slot still exposed.
Guys... Go with the Puig Carbon Fiber look. I bought it through Revzilla. Went on in 10 minutes. Instructions were not in English, but it was common sense. It looks absolutely amazing and I have had a ton of comments on it. Puig makes some awesome stuff. I have the Puig Windshield I got through Revzilla in dark smoke and it is amazing.
Shipping in Canada / Twisted Throttle Local Pickup
As the title says, I picked up all my stuff locally from Twisted Throttle. If any of you have shipped packages in Canada, you know they measure the package in all three dimensions plus the weight and the Postal code = $$$$$ I sent a Kawasaki manual earlier this year in a Canada Post envelope which came to slightly over $20 when I included the cost of the envelope, from Ontario to Manitoba. I mention this because I have recently looked at selling some of my farkles off the 07, looking at what it would cost to ship to British Columbia made me feel like I was being greedy,reality is you don't get much for $32 from Canada Post, I may just sell what I have for local pickup only.
So to highlight the subject of Dealers /Twisted Throttle, they pay shipping once to their facility in Canada and a second time to ship to customers. The local supplier dealer in BC gets his stuff shipped direct to him, if he is smart he places a large order in the spring and gets a deal on shipping. So if it is a large or heavy item, and shipped to the western provinces, expect Twisted Throttle to be more expensive. Some stores will price match a cheaper advertised price provided they stock the item, never hurts to ask, also buying all your farkles at once and quoting /comparing to the dealer price can encourage a discount on your total purchase.
ALL such mudguard are useless, the mud, water, wathever comes from the top of tire, flung right over the guard. Tested yesterday. I'm removing it since it makes cleaning harder. There goes 239$. Moving on.
I was looking at huggers for a couple of years, and the only choices were in the $160 - $190 range. When these started being marketed last year for under $120, I bit. I'm one of the lucky ones with a 20 minute install, but that included de-gunking and having a beer, and the fit is pretty good on my '09, being a sans ABS model. When I installed it I posted that it is criminal to have to pay that amount for a $5 piece of plastic. DDD, why did you have to pay $239?
I installed the Puig rear hugger this afternoon. It took all of about 10 minutes. The installation instructions left a lot to be desired, but it didn't take too long to figure out. I have the lowered rear suspension and I didn't have to make any mods to the hugger. A lot of money for a piece of plastic, but it does look like it belongs on the bike.
I should add that it cost me $ 220. Canadian, which was all in, tax but no shipping.
